So I thought I’d make a clip about a kid getting revenge on a guy that pissed on him. A few years back I met a wrestler who said he’d be keen to be in a video, so the time finally came to take him up on it. I thought it’d be cool if you could hire a wrestler to do your dirty work, and get vengeance for you.”

Said The Whale “CONFIDENCE”

“Originally I had my friend Rosie do vocals on the song, but for Said The Whale’s version I sang it. Confidence is a song about slowly coming to terms with the realities of adulthood. A few years ago my best friend became a father – he was the first in my tight group of friends to have a kid. I asked him if he was nervous to be a dad, to be responsible for another life, and he told me he wasn’t. For some reason that really shocked me. At the time, I couldn’t imagine being so selfless. Lyrically this song is fairly abstract, but that was the basic premise. Since writing this song, I myself have become a father and am less afraid of growing old, so the song feels poignant and meaningful.” – Tyler

US Weekly go after the male dominated “Creative Class” with new single

ustin, TX punk/no-wave four piece US Weekly have shared their new single “Creative Class” a blistering take down of “the male ego and how it applies to the so called ‘creative industry.'”

As vocalist / songwriter Christopher Nordahl states, “Within the walls of startups, app incubators, advertising agencies, and accounting firms, men who have been told their creativity makes them exceptional walk blindly with their dicks scraping the linoleum, believing their status as a creative does not make them a corporate drone, but in fact an artist who is privy to the benefits of a corporation. The creative ego and exceptionalist attitude is suffocating. However, I am not exempt from this distinction, being a man deemed as “creative” spending my 9 to 5 in an ad agency. I often find myself struggling with the creative class, the proud men who populate it, and the lack of women, minorities, and LGBTQ people represented within it. This song takes the perspective of a grossly oblivious man, who believes his perspective and class makes him better than his counterparts, delivered with an off kilter Texas twang”
