Scott Fab Releases “Leave My Friends”

The upcoming release from Scott Fab, Leave My Friends, captures Midwest desolation on the bones of an acoustic guitar. Leave My Friends, recorded at Big Sky Recording (The Electric Six) in Ann Arbor, Michigan, is due out on April 21. The first single “Leave My Friends” is available as an approved downloadable mp3.

Leave My Friends puts all of Fab’s vulnerabilities on display, but confronts them with an honest storytelling that brings to life the calming crackle of a turntable. He writes mostly on acoustic guitar, reaching around for a melody sturdy enough to hang lyrics on. The album was recorded over the course of a year, one day per month at a time. Always open to trying different approaches, Fab wrote “Sun Turns Down” while riding his bike in Northern Michigan and transposed it once he was back home. Just like the changing of the seasons, the album finds an ebb and flow with a single string of consciousness.

Video: Chevy Woods – “Bank Of America”

A hard-working mixtape rapper and a blue-collar sensibility, Taylor Gang consigliere Chevy Woods recently relocated from Pittsburgh to Los Angeles and embraced the flashing lights. Spitting rapidfire over a ringing trap instrumental, Chevy shows off his new digs in the clip for “Bank Of America.” Stunting in his palm tree-laden abode and dancing in front of his luxury coupe, Chevy spits a double-time verse and shares the spotlight with a typically percussive Rich The Kid chorus. Premiered today on Taylor Gang’s official site, “Bank Of America” is the third visual from Chevy’s late 2016 mixtape Gang Shit Only, hosted by Trap-A-Holics, following the sunset-drenched clip for “Forever” and the block-beating clip for the tape’s title track. Gang Shit Only is an appetizer for Taylor’d, Chevy’s upcoming debut album, out later this year.
