‘Astrosamantha’ by Ekynoxx

“RetroFuture”, The debut album release from EKYNOXX could be described as “a modern concept album”. It presents a vision of the future from a number of points of view: the first is a vision of the future as seen from the past, the second is a vision of the future as seen from the present and the third and final one is a vision of the future as seen from the future, because – paradoxically – the moment that we are currently experiencing is already in the past and the next moment is in the future. The instants in our lives are like interlocking links in a chain: the past, present and future are interconnected and ceaselessly slide through time.

This concept is conveyed in the track RetroFuture, with a quote by the 20th century English writer George Orwell: “Who controls the past controls the future; who controls the present controls the past.”

TWO ISLANDS premiere stunning new track ‘Heaven’

Sometimes a track comes out of nowhere with no explanation needed, ‘Heaven’ is one of those, a gloriously shimmering slice of infectious pop where you can almost feel the beat of the setting summer sun through your headphones. Welcome to the world of TwoIslands…

“We’ve always felt as if we existed on our own island, like outsiders looking in. Taking musical cues from the classic songwriting synonymous with Liverpool but dressing our songs in a modern and unique way; aiming to follow in the lineage of Northern bands whose originality and creative ambition have helped to alter our perception of what is possible in pop music.

We want to reclaim the romance of falling in love with an artist solely through their songs, something that has been lost in the internet era. We’re not looking to hide, we just want to engage through our music. We are Two Islands.”

Billy Moon – ‘I W K’

“The concept for ‘I Wanna Know’ is based on the creative power to imagine and the freedom your mind can have when a game is revolved around fantasizing new rules every ten seconds. When there is no limit on a character’s imagination, the freedom can either take you on beautifully creative inspiration or mind-bending insanity.

I wrote this song a while ago while I was still in University. I recorded it with Aron D’Alesio (of Young Rival) in a small studio in Toronto a while ago. It’s great for the song to finally come to light. Funny enough, since that time my friends in Mr. Joy currently rent and operate the studio where we recorded (The Black Lodge).” – Billy Moon

Bailar Quieto [to dance while standing still] was one of the first songs written for the album. Juan Campodónico sent the base to Martín Rivero, who was living in Shanghai at the time, to work on the song. There is a twelve-hour time difference between Uruguay and China; so, when it’s daytime in America, it’s already nighttime in Asia. While Martin would listen to that very danceable music, he would fall asleep and end up singing in his sleep about something having to do with dancing, but without being able to move.

CHINO XL AND RAMA DUKE REINVENT RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS’ GLOBAL SMASH

“Under the Bridge,” the 1992 global hit from Red Hot Chili Peppers, is a moody, potent exposè about alienation, despondency and the search for one’s truth. Lead singer Anthony Kiedis penned the platinum-selling song as he found redemption on the other side of addiction. Who can forget the indelible chorus: “I don’t ever want to feel, like I did that day/Take me to the place I love, take me all the way.”

The Coathangers announce a new EP

When The Coathangers first stormed on the scene over a decade ago, their power resided in their ability to craft a crooked hook out of a grimy guitar line, a delightfully crass chorus, or an enticingly ham-fisted drum-and-bass groove. With each successive album, the Atlanta garage punk ensemble has increasingly tempered their brash charm with sharp-witted pop. Not that the band ever fully excised the primal howl of The Gories or the sparse strut of ESG, but with the trio’s latest EP, Parasite, The Coathangers explore the space between their initial unbridled expressionism and their recent nuanced song craft. “I’d like to think the EP takes you on a journey through the band’s existence,” says guitarist/vocalist Julia Kugel of the sequencing of the five songs on their latest offering.

And hey, maybe that’s actually what makes it worthwhile.”

UK’s From Inside Premiere Cover of Linkin Park’s Heavy Track

The band says, “Linkin Park is without the doubt the band that defines our childhood. When we first heard their new song, “Heavy,” we really wanted to relate to it, but without those killer distorted guitars, Mr. Hahn’s scratching, or Mike Shinoda’s rapping, it just wasn’t the Linkin Park that has inspired us so much in our lives. We felt compelled to write a tribute to the band that has released those lives changing album- Hybrid Theory and Meteora, So we all agreed to take it upon ourselves to head straight into the studio and put our own spin on how we feel “Heavy” could have sounded if they had approached it in the same vein as their earlier album. We simply wanted to put the heavy side back into the LInkin Park Sound.”

HIDEOUS DIVINITY: New Track From Italian Death Metal Unit

Adveniens is the impending new studio offering from Italian death metal unit HIDEOUS DIVINITY, which features within its ranks current and former members of Hour Of Penance and Aborted. Slated for release on April 28th, the follow-up to the band’s critically-lauded Cobra Verde long player was recorded, mixed, and mastered at Stefano Morabito’s 16th Cellar Studio (Hour Of Penance, Fleshgod Apocalypse etc.) during the Autumn of 2016, includes a rendition of Sinister’s “Embodiment Of Chaos,” and finds HIDEOUS DIVINITY offering up their darkest manifestations to date.

In advance of its release, today Revolver is pleased to host newest single, “Ages Die” for public consumption. Issues guitarist Enrico Schettino. “This is our all-in choice as first single from Adveniens, our new manifesto, our latest epiphany, the limbo between what has been our previous life and the future that awaits HIDEOUS DIVINITY — and bear with us, there’s much more to see… and hear. This is the soundtrack to smoking ruins we witness before being carried away, just like the Angelus Novus, just like the Adveniens himself. Experience with us the future of the past.”

Video: Ezale – “All It Take”

Skating over smooth beats indebted to ’80s electro-R&B, East Oakland’s Ezale serves honest street tales with a healthy helping of funk. With his metronomic flow floating above bright synths and sublimely cheesy electric guitar, Ezale reflects on the precariousness of life in the hood in “All It Take,” illustrating the difficulty of staying on the straight and narrow while surrounded by drugs and money. “That’s all it took,” rhymes Ezale on the hook, “when the money got him lost and the dope got him hooked.” In the new video for the 2016 track, Ezale posts up in a bando with a spiffy suit on, conducting his business until a drug deal goes horribly wrong. Presented out of chronological order, the clip vacillates from depictions of Ezale’s past to his present, represented by subtle shifts in the video’s coloration. Produced by Hawk Beatz and premiered today by The FADER, “All It Take” is the latest video from Ezale’s critically acclaimed The Tonite Show with Ezale, a full-length collaboration between Ezale and DJ Fresh.

The Bunny The Bear Releases Powerful Track About Substance Abuse

Dealing with demons while in the public spotlight isn’t an easy thing. It’s something The Bunny The Bear’s frontman, Matthew Tybor, has been doing for years while struggling with substance abuse. It was that struggle that inspired the new song, “I Am Free”, which the band is proud to premiere the video for.

The powerful lyrics of the song (This is the last time that I’ll walk ashamed of my choices, this emptiness, feeding my future to flames. This is the day I will finally be free of these demons, addictions that keep me in chains. I am free) are extremely personal to Tybor as he is currently in recovery and is no longer using. He explains, “[substance abuse] can seem like a seeming endless struggle to overcome such demons. Booze, pills, whatever really. A huge bulk of society struggles with some, or all of the above, myself included. Sometimes you have no choice but to find that sliver of hope within all the despair.”
