Craig Mabbitt Uses Own Life As Inspiration On New Track
The Dead Rabbitts recently premiered the first new track since the release of their ‘Shapeshifter’ album in 2014. Last month when they debuted “Dead Again” the track received an overwhelming response and this week the band eagerly premiered the second single, “Burn It Down” off the upcoming full length record titled, ‘This Emptiness’.
“Burn It Down” is inspired by toxic people getting involved in your life and finally realizing that in order to move forward in one’s own life, you have to cut out the negative. Mabbitt explains, “Sometimes you develop relationships with people you should’ve never developed in the first place, this track is about burning down those bridges you built connecting you to those individuals, quality over quantity you might say.”

OOZEPUS: Your Limit EP By Japanese Trio Featuring Members Of Coffins And Linekraft
our Limit, the proper debut EP by Japan’s OOZEPUS — a collaborative project between members of death metal/doom legends Coffins and industrial, junk metal abuser supreme, Linekraft. — is out now through Malignant Records.
On Your Limit, OOZEPUS delivers four new tracks of crushing noise rock/post-industrial metal which revels in the physicality and simplistic brutality of early-era Godflesh and Swans. The EP is built on battering repetition and singular, riffs, propelled forth by rigid bass lines, warbled, underwater vocals, and massive percussive pummel. All of it is delivered with an infectious and hypnotic cadence, coalescing into a towering wall of heaviness and pressurized sludge. Not necessarily what diehard followers of Malignant Records are used to, and yet, sure to find appeal to those with industrial sensibilities and to those that appreciate all manners of extreme music, the Your Limit EP will also bring new listeners into the grips of the label’s massive catalog of dark and exploratory extreme music.

Paul Kelly’ North American tour focuses on ‘Death’s Dateless Night’ album
Paul Kelly, Australia’s preeminent songwriter, will spend the month of May performing intimate shows across America and Canada — his first concerts on this continent since 2013. Death’s Dateless Night, a collaboration with the highly regarded Australian multi-instrumentalist Charlie Owen, contains songs that they have played at various funerals. Featuring a mix of covers, traditional tunes and a few Kelly originals, the album’s vibe is actually far from funereal. The spare, stirring set has been hailed as a “powerful meditation on life, death and the mess we make in-between.”

Video: wifisfuneral – “Hell On Earth”
A deep, cerebral thinker wise beyond his 19 years, wifisfuneral is a rising star in the world of Florida rap. Ruminating in industrial backroads and resting under power terminals, wifisfuneral contemplates how his newfound fame contradicts his introverted nature in the video for “Hell On Earth.” Directed by Nasser Boulaich, the video’s twilit, blood-red tint is evocative of wifisfuneral’s drug-addled state of mind, as the camera warps reality to the tune of Grimm Doza’s beat. Premiered by The FADER, “Hell On Earth” is the first track from and a fitting introduction to When Hell Falls, wifi’s latest album, which peaked at #19 on the iTunes Hip-Hop chart. Originally debuted in September, “Hell On Earth” has earned over 480,000 plays on SoundCloud. “Hell On Earth” is the second track to get a visual treatment from When Hell Falls, following the gleefully introverted, XXL-debuted “Antisocial Club.
Okey Dokey & Winston Yellen of Night Beds share sunny, funky collaborative track “Always Never”
You can’t fully appreciate the long history of recorded music without taking the time to look at the breakups. Whether it’s for good or for the season, Okey Dokey is the product of that natural reformation that occurs when musicians part ways. Fronted by visual artist Aaron Martin and The Weeks’ guitarist Johny Fisher, these two former band mates made the rare decision to revisit creating music together in Fisher’s small cabin about 20 miles outside of Nashville, TN. What occurred was a well blended mix of everything they loved about classic Motown combined with a dash of their psychedelic storytelling roots. With the record and touring band including a revolving group of musicians from bands such as Wild Child, The Weeks, Rayland Baxter Band, Morning Teleportation, Bully and Sol Cat, the band released debut Love You, Mean It in late January.

Time Bomb has many of the hallmarks of the band’s original oeuvre, their fast, punky, brainy, fun and often funny rock n’ roll sound – The Ramones meet Eddie Cochran meets ZZ Top – but adds a catchy, pop-ish slant and a modern production flare that brings a freshness to the entire proceedings. The first vinyl pressing will be a limited, numbered edition of 1,000 copies.
Time Bomb was produced by the Commandos, primarily recorded in their hometown at Master Mix Studios by Kevin Bowe (Jonny Lang, Paul Westerberg, Dan Wilson) and mixed by Mitch Easter (R.E.M., Let’s Active, The dBs) at Fidelitorium Recordings in North Carolina. Also, in this modern age, it’s much easier to work long distance. That really helped make this possible.”

“MOONLIGHT” SOUNDTRACK GETS AN ADAPTATION & BARRY JENKINS LOVES IT
Moonlight director, Barry Jenkins, showed his appreciation for the slowed-down vibe of chopped and screwed music recently by not only including it in his Oscar-winning film, but by excitedly tweeting about the tribute soundtrack that Houston’s OG Ron C and fellow Chopstar, DJ Candlestick honored his work with. Entitled “Purple Moonlight” the chopped up not slopped up adaptation includes songs from, and inspired by the film and composer Nicholas Britell’s mostly classical score.
Jenkins spoke to Pitchfork last November about the importance of chopped and screwed music for his film, saying, “When you slow things down there’s this emotion, this yearning. I think in some ways, in Moonlight, we’re doing the same thing. There’s this idea, especially in the story, of Black trying to project this idea of masculinity. But as his life slows down you get to see that he’s just sitting there”

Rock ‘N Roller Anna Rose Unveils “Bury Me Deep” Lyric Video
Anna Rose is walking, singing proof that big things most definitely come in small packages. The fiery singer, whose sound was defined as “bluesy rock-n-roll” by Paper Magazine, reveals the official lyric video for brooding, sexy track, “Bury Me Deep,” which comes from critically acclaimed EP Strays In The Cut. Of the video, Rose says, “The director, Wes Teshome, and I worked hard to make a visual landscape that complimented the mystery of the song. In this world, things are not always what they seem and words become guideposts along the way.” Rose also notes, “I wrote this song at a time where I very often felt misunderstood,” where spurts of emotion get lost in the chaos of life and the vast music industry,” said Rose. “Bury Me Deep” attests to that focus heard in its hazy guitar riffs, defined pulse and electricity. Attitude crosses honest writing and pierces your skin: Bury me deeper where the sun don’t reach / breaking my heart just so you can see the rest of me.
