Today, rapper and producer NAV has announced his debut mixtape, NAV. The self-titled project is set for release on Friday, February 24, 2017 at all DSPs. Leading up to the announcement, yesterday NAV shared the first song from the project, “Some Way” featuring The Weeknd. The rising star has also announced today that he has signed a multi-project deal with XO/Republic Records. NAV will be his first release for the label.
The Toronto-based beatsmith has been slowly revealing his solo music independently over the past year via his SoundCloud, each banger garnering the artist more fans than the last. Letting the music truly speak for itself, NAV has garnered over 100 million streams in total on the platform as of today. Notably, “Up” co-produced with Metro Boomin currently has garnered over 21 million streams, while the self-produced “Myself” sits at over 26 million.
Already having established himself as a go-to producer, NAV recently featured verses on “Biebs In The Trap,” the fan-favorite single from Travis Scott’s 2016 album Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight and “Re-Up” from Belly’s Inzombia project, both of which NAV also produced. In 2015, NAV also produced Drake’s Grammy-nominated track “Back to Back.”
