Much of the work was done in their home recording studio, and not being subjected to time limits or deadlines, allowed the band to hone and perfect each song until they finally reached their desired effect.

At just nineteen Rosie Carney has already experienced more of the tumult of life than most her age. Through her raw poetical talent, her lived experience is channelled into her beautiful music and singing which, at times, recalls the vivid and imaginative folk ambience of Joni Mitchell.

Wolf) and savouring the freedom and license to express herself fully. ‘Awake Me’ is her enchanting new single and it showcases all her talents with aplomb. From the swirling ambience permeating the track to the tender plucked arpeggio, Rosie proves a deft hand at creating sublime tonal flourishes to compliment her vivid imagistic lyrics and enchanting voice.

Deep Throat Choir Share New Track “Ada”
Deep Throat Choir is an all-female singing collective formed in 2013 by Luisa Gerstein. Having played in the bands Landshapes and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, the project was driven by the simple desire to bring music making back to a few basic elements: just voices and drums. Not for the love of choirs per se, but for the love of raw female voices thrown together, of the interplay of intricate vocal melodies and harmonies; Luisa wanted to sing and arrange the music she loved, and to hear it stripped and bolstered in that specific way that lots of voices can do. A melody sung by one voice is so different to a melody sung by many, and the same goes for words; the sentiment is altogether transformed when carried by a collective as opposed to an individual. This is exemplified perfectly in the line “show me emotional respect” from the choir’s arrangement of Bjork’s Stonemilker. It is not just one woman’s plea, but an anthem for all.

In advance of the release, NPR Music is premiering the title track today, praising, “At its best, country music is a preserve for the up-close and personal. From Merle Haggard to Miranda Lambert, the genre’s most powerful storytellers illuminate big subjects like family, love or work by focusing on small details unfolding in kitchens, on back porches or in farm fields. ‘The Beginning Of Things,’ the title track from Charlie Worsham’s excellent upcoming second album, demonstrates this art with uncommon grace and intelligence.” NPR Music’s Ann Powers continues, “His understated, warm vocal exudes sympathy, exactly nailing the part in the storytelling process where words are shaped by phrasing and intonation. Behind him, an ace band…crafts an environment that’s simple and inviting, encouraging the listener to sit back and think about what’s being said.”
A Festival, A Parade Discuss Mental Health in ‘People Person’
Newcastle outfit A Festival, A Parade have announced the upcoming release of their first single of the year People Person. The alt-rockers’ latest track showcases the brooding and slow-building melodic rock which has already earned them plenty of plaudits nationally since bursting onto the scene with previous single If Dogs Could Talk in the autumn.
With its underlying darkened tone obvious throughout, frontman Joe Allan’s intricate lyricism strongly comes to the fore in People Person, shining light on the stigma surrounding mental health and its increasingly prevalent role in today’s society.
Captured amidst a bombardment of fists and feet flailing within a writhing mosh pit of fans as I AM performed the track live, the video was filmed by Travis Kuykendall and Chad Lee and edited by Kuykendall. Issues the band, “Our first music video was shot at a taqueria so it only seemed fitting to do the next one at a pizzeria. J&J’s pizza shop had a cool basement they let people throw shows in. ‘Life Through Torment’ was the first song we wrote off the album and it’s just an ass beater. We’re not trying to be the coolest band or most popular. We’re just trying to make badass music and tour the world making friends.”

You can’t fully appreciate the long history of recorded music without taking the time to look at the breakups. Fronted by visual artist Aaron Martin and The Weeks’ guitarist Johny Fisher, these two former band mates made the rare decision to revisit creating music together in Fisher’s small cabin about 20 miles outside of Nashville, TN. What occurred was a well blended mix of everything they loved about classic Motown combined with a dash of their psychedelic storytelling roots. With the record and touring band including a revolving group of musicians from bands such as Wild Child, The Weeks, Rayland Baxter Band, Morning Teleportation, Bully and Sol Cat, their upcoming debut album Love You, Mean It has a little bit of treasure for every type of listener.

D.A. Stern Shares Albert Brooks Inspired “Miami” Video
D.A. Stern shares his first video from Aloha Hola in the form of this Albert Brooks inspired gem ahead of the records release via Two Syllables on January 27. In D.A. Stern’s own words…
“I am a huge Albert Brooks fan and Real Life might be my favorite of his movies. It’s basically about a filmmaker, played by Brooks, who plans to make a feature out of footage he shoots of a real American family during their day-to-day lives; naturally, everything goes wrong. The hilarious and beautiful montage that occurs during one of the family’s happier spells depicts a typical all-American family living an all-American dream in slow-motion, yet we are aware that this is not the truth. Beneath all of the smiles, ice cream cones, and board games, this family is being pushed to their limits by a selfish man with a vision. The idea that not everything is as it seems and that things are different below the surface ties directly into what the song Miami is about.”

Alice Hansen, a classically trained pianist and violinist, and Chuck Blazevic, a studio-obsessed tone-sculptor and monome performer, combine their disparate perspectives to co-curate every element of YNGTH together as equals. After gaining a groundswell of support from fans and critics all over the globe for their 2012 self-titled debut and 2014’s ‘Adorn’, the group caught the attention of indie upstart Yellow K Records (Japanese Breakfast, Eskimeaux) on the strength of their breakout single “Caught In a Time, So Far Away”. Award-winning world music guitarist Lawson Rollins has the Billboard, America’s Music Charts and Groove Jazz Music charts under the hypnotic spell of his new single, “Island Time,” the first cut taken from his seventh album, “3 Minutes to Midnight,” which was released last Friday (January 20) by Infinita Records. Radio programmers at influential national outlets, including SiriusXM’s Watercolors and Broadcast Architecture, have made the seductive waltz paced by Rollins’ beguiling fingerstyle nylon guitar come-ons one of the “most added” and “most played” new singles on the first two charts published in 2017. Another composition appearing on the multicultural and multi-genre collection written by Rollins, the mystical meditation “Eternal,” began receiving airplay last month on the nationally-syndicated public radio program Echoes. “3 Minutes to Midnight” wasted no time climbing into the top 20 of the iTunes world music album sales chart.
Adopting a “Brevity is the soul of wit” mantra while crafting the twelve tunes that form “3 Minutes to Midnight,” Rollins opted to communicate with a sense of urgency, immediacy and poignancy perhaps to contrast the clutter and clamor incessantly assaulting our senses and shrinking bandwidths. He eschewed his long-held penchant for sprawling compositions and opulently-layered audioscapes in favor of clear and concise constructs – all in the three-minute range – with a pared down sonic aesthetic. Producing the session with multi-platinum producer Dominic Camardella, Rollins’ new set evokes a full gamut of moods and emotions ranging from passion, energetic and excitement to brooding, melancholic and pensive.
The Esoteric story begins early April 2015, long-time friends and music creators Kyle Whiteman (@kwhiteyxlbgang) and Jordan Smith (@likeglassxlbg) joined forces, sharing beats and words to create their own sound. After recently self-producing and releasing their first mix tape, Esoteric’s following grows stronger with every release. The pair strive to create and produce quality music as often as possible, with quality being the key word.
Their debut EP Three Four was recorded at the Three Four; the gang’s main hangout and studio. The EP was self produced and recorded by Likeglass with mixing/mastering duties handled by fellow LBGang member Alec Lane (Colossal Sound).
