Gidge has a new album ready and it releases this Friday
Gidge is a duo consisting of Jonatan Nilsson and Ludvig Stolterman from Umeå, a small city in the north of Sweden. Jonatan and Ludvig met in school at the age of 16 and quickly became good friends. They had a mutual interest for electronic music, and in their second year together, after taking a Sound Production class, they started producing music. Nine years later, they released their debut LP “Autumn Bells” – a release that inspired music enthusiasts from all over the world.
“Autumn Bells” was an effort from the two to make an electronic album that derived out of natural sounds and moods. Together with melancholic vocal samples and warm, fuzzy chord progressions, the music of Gidge seemed to affect their audience in an emotional way, which eventually resulted in the duo taking the top spot as Best New Artist at XLR8R’s readers poll of 2014, as well as the LP ending up on numerous Best of 2014-lists.

London/Berlin based dream-pop duo GEOWULF have today unveiled a hazy, 90’s-inspired new video for their single ‘Don’t Talk About You’. Shot in Berlin, the clip perfectly encapsulates the essence of the band and follows their previously released London centric video for ‘Saltwater’. Recorded with the producer Duncan Mills at the end of the summer, lead singer Star discusses ‘Don’t Talk About You’ in more detail below:
“Woodlands Of Self-Impalement” is pulled from the Further Layers Of Societal Collapse EP, which was issued for free download on Halloween. As with the recently-issued debut video for “Paranoia Will Not Coagulate,” the visual incarnation of the bleak passage was filmed in various regions of New York and Pennsylvania, shot and edited by the lone creator of GRIDFAILURE’s pyroclastic disrupt. Said Loudwire of the track upon its initial release, “‘Woodlands Of Self-Impalement’ is seven-and-a-half minutes of brooding, ominous torture that begs for something catastrophic to happen, but it doesn’t – it just lurks in the shadows as you frantically survey your surroundings, just waiting for the axe to fall, pissing yourself with nervous anticipation.”
The months leading up to 2017 were ripe with inspiration for singer-songwriter, Natalie Lain. November dropped Lain into SwitchBitch Studios and under the wing of engineer and producer Michael Abiuso who helped the young singer to hone-in on the concepts and artistic musings that would become the songs on her debut, self-titled EP which drops today. With Lain’s unconventional approach to writing and Abiuso’s impeccable ear and expertise behind the board, the pair often built the songs from the ground-up, sometimes starting with nothing more than a melody or a bit of poetry. Like fine filament the two spun these spontaneous bouts of inspiration into a sonic tapestry of four, beautifully unique pop songs.
