FILTER ALBUM STREAM
Reconstruction requires deconstruction. The institutions must be razed in order to clear space for the future to flourish. You tear down the old and build up the new. Filter founder, singer, guitarist, and producer Richard Patrick knows this dance well. It’s what established the group as a multiplatinum industrial alternative luminary, and it catalyzed their seventh full-length album, Crazy Eyes [Wind-up Records].
“Filter is the mind,” he exclaims. “It’s your interpretation or my interpretation. Our thing is to look at people’s unexplainable behavior and assess it, using sound. It’s a way to approximate the insanity of the human condition. The reason this record is so fucking heavy and strange is it’s exactly the opposite of what’s popular. It’s not pretty. It’s not cute. It’s real.”

“MERCY” VIDEO PREMIERE
Today, Eric Bachmann shares the new video for “Mercy” from his recently released self-titled album. Directed by Daniel Ralston and shot in downtown Los Angeles, the video features intrigue, blackmail and hungry hippos!
In their premiere of the video, The A.V. Club wrote: The music on Eric Bachmann is mellower and more direct than almost anything he’s done in the past, with lyrics that are more reflective of his personal feelings than any he’s ever written. That’s true most directly on “Mercy,” which reflects on life, death, and and crazy friends and family. So why not pair that serious song—probably the best on an excellent album—with an homage to James Bond villainy, Francis Ford Coppola’s The Conversation, and… something you’ll have to wait for.

LOUIS BERRY “NICOLE”
In a modern age, rockabilly lives on through Louis Berry. The toe-tapping single “Nicole” changes the rockabilly game as Berry radiates high-energy Rock influence. Enticing you with his raspy vocals, you can’t help but feel the angst that he is feeling. Music was his remedy to a complicated past; Growing up a misfit in Liverpool, he sought to make music that talks about real life. “Chart music now is just candy—it doesn’t feed your soul. An hour later, you’re hungry again.” “Nicole” is the candy that will feed your soul, as he passionately calls out for her wondering if she is his to have.
