Los Angeles band The Neighbourhood has announced their ‘Wiped Out!’ U.S. tour for summer 2016. The 25-date tour kicks off in Seattle, WA on May 6 and concludes in Dover, DE with a performance at Firefly Music Festival. MIKEY CLEMENT RIP
Raleigh, NC modern progressive metal group VALLEYS have been gearing up to release their debut full length concept album, Experiment One: Asylum, which is set to hit stores on February 12, 2016. On February 5th, just a week prior to their scheduled release, the band received a phone call from the local fire department that a vehicle matching the description of the car owned by one of their vocalists, 23-year-old Mikey Clement, had been found wrecked. It wasn’t long after that they received the news that Mikey had passed in the accident.
As a group, VALLEYS made the decision that while they could put a halt on the entire album release, that is not what Mikey would have wanted them to do. He would have wanted the show to go on and for them to release the music that he and the band worked so hard on.

The music video featuring Plaito performing his original song, “Finding My Heart” was posted on the solo artist’s Facebook page on 2 February in an attempt to gain exposure and avoid the need to sign a publishing deal. Plaito was concerned that creative control of his music would be lost to financial interests.
The low-budget video has since been clocking up views and gaining momentum, as thousands of Facebook users show their support by liking and sharing it in an attempt to help the talented musician reach a larger audience and amass a fan base – without requiring the backing of a major record label.
In the online description of Plaito’s new music video, the budding artist vents, “From what I’ve seen so far, all record labels seem to just want to own, control and profit from their artists. This is why Lady Gaga threatened to quit music. She felt shallow, controlled, lost her creative freedom and said she was just being used to make money. Today, we’re debuting the music video for one of 10 Songs‘ catchiest numbers, “Other Side Of You.” Instead of going the traditional music video route, Means instead recruited his 6-year-old daughter Lola to write and direct the whole thing, resulting in an adorably quirky clip for an already enjoyable song. Means explains:
“My daughter and I had a few hours to kill the other day, so I presented her with the idea of writing and shooting a music video for me. Surprisingly, she not only agreed, but completely embraced it and within an hour we had a story, some really shaky footage and most importantly, tons of fun.”

Ezra Furman has announced an extensive 2016 tour to support his standout LP Perpetual Motion People. To celebrate, he has shared an extraordinary stop-motion video for track ‘Ordinary Life’ directed by Jo Brett. Charmingly disjointed, the track is characteristic of Furman, earnest and intriguing, emotional and precise. The video is simple and eloquent, combining his own handwritten lyrics with images of a young person who expounds the earthly bounds of their own ordinary life. Of the video Furman says that ‘Ordinary Life’ “is a concept I’ve been trying to get out for a long time.” He cites transgender American author, playwright, performance artist and gender theorist Kate Bornstein: “She’s struggled a lot with depression and suicidal thoughts, she said, “Do anything you have to do to make your life worth living, break the law, run away from home, destroy your possessions; just don’t be mean to people”. I meet a lot of fans in need, and in pain. I feel desperate a lot too – desperate to shake people by the shoulders and try to explain something, I’m just not sure what.”

The single expresses that everyone in the end just wants some easy love. We were listening to a lot of Simon and Garfunkel, specifically ‘Parsley Sage Rosemary and Thyme’ when we wrote ‘Easy Love’. We were trying to expand our songwriting with this song, and the chorus and bridge helped with that. ‘Easy Love’ is an Alternative Pop song written in June of last year and inspired by traditional Pop and Folk, but still seen through the lens of “blackgaze”
