THE LUMINEERS ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM & “OPHELIA”
The Lumineers announced today the release of their second album Cleopatra via Dualtone, an Entertainment One company, on April 8th. In addition the Lumineers have announced the first leg of their World tour commencing April 14th in the UK. The band also shares their first single “Ophelia” which can be heard here. It took four years for The Lumineers (Wesley Schultz, Jeremiah Fraites and Neyla Pekarek) to follow up their platinum-plus, multi-Grammy-nominated, self-titled debut – which spent 46 weeks on the Billboard 200 and peaked at #2 — but Cleopatra is well worth the wait. After exploding onto the scene with their monster single, “Ho Hey” (which spent a staggering 62 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at #3) and its follow-up, “Stubborn Love” (recently featured on President Barack Obama’s Spotify playlist), The Lumineers spent a solid three years touring six of the seven continents. During that time, The Lumineers earned a pair of Grammy nominations (Best New Artist, Best Americana Album), contributed two songs to The Hunger Games franchise (including the hit Jennifer Lawrence/James Newton Howard collaboration, “The Hanging Tree”) and sold an impressive 1.7 million albums in the U.S., and 3 million worldwide.

TRIXIE WHITLEY’S “SOFT SPOKEN WORDS”
Trixie Whitley’s highly anticipated new album, Porta Bohemica, is out today. The follow up to her critically acclaimed debut Fourth Corner, Whitley’s prismatic artistry on Porta Bohemica reflects electronica, R&B, the vulnerable ethos of singer-songwriters, and the unapologetic individuality of punk rock. Although her previous effort reflects her broad tastes, it is with this new record that Whitley creates a transcendent musical miscellany. It even took chucking an earlier version of the record and starting over to achieve the meaning and mastery displayed in Porta Bohemica, which flourished with the help of producer Gus Seyffert (Beck, The Black Keys) and Joey Waronker (Atoms for Peace, Ultraísta).

EXTERMINATION TEMPLE NEW EP
Cryptic Swedish outfit, EXTERMINATION TEMPLE, is preparing for the release of the outfit’s first vinyl release with the Lifeless Forms 7″ EP in early March.
EXTERMINATION TEMPLE is another project from the same artist who crafts the blackened hardcore madness of Broken Cross, and while the outfit’s self-titled 2014 cassette demo was an equal mix of black and death metal, the impending Lifeless Forms 7″ is undoubtedly overall more death metal. The creepy and twisted sound carries direct influences from old-school Swedish death metal, with elements of hardcore and experimental/atmospheric influences, and lyrics that deal with death, mental illness, and morbidity.

FRANK TURNER “MITTENS”
Turner is launching the EP alongside a new interactive website that echoes the song’s backstory. “’Mittens’ is a song about taking a risk for someone and letting your guard down,” Turner says. “It’s based on a real experience I had where I was bothered about not getting a reply from someone, so I got obsessed with used postcards on a visit to a thrift store in New York. In the end she never did write back, but I like to think the risk was worth it, and I learned from the experience. With that in mind, I thought it would be cool to set up a website where people can send (virtual) postcards to each other, and use the opportunity to say something meaningful, to take a risk, and see what comes back. The video ties in with all of this — and my Elvis obsession — sometimes it’s still worth it, even if you lose.”

LILA ROSE SHARES PASSIONATE “ALL THE BEAUTY” SINGLE
Lila Rose has burst into our welcoming ear holes with a song that has the fiery force of a thousand suns. “All The Beauty” is a soaring torch song on par with Florence Welch or Kate Bush, with a breakdown that struck us right in the weepy parts of our hearts as soon as we heard the sprinkling of keys meshed with the eruption of drums.
It’s not a huge surprise that Lila Rose makes some of the most cinematic indie rock on the planet. Lila is both blessed and afflicted with sounds that most people cannot hear; while this is a gift when it comes to making music, “it can also lead to great personal discomfort at times,” she states in her latest bio. Can you imagine hearing the world more than other people, and how inspiring but also frustrating that would be? Lila Rose can, and on “All The Beauty” we can hear the tension between creating something gorgeous and the pain that you can only find in top class pop music like hers.

TINY DEATHS PREMIERE NEW SONG “THE GARDENER”
“‘The Gardener’ is a song written from the perspective of the ‘bad guy’ in a relationship, the person who does the cheating and heartbreaking. I thought it would be interesting to explore things from that perspective since I usually write about being the one getting my heart broken,” said de Lune. “It’s a little bit of a departure for us, sound-wise, because it’s a lot more stripped down in the production and the vocals are a lot more raw than they usually are. It was an experiment in, how do we push our boundaries as a band? How much can we take away, and still sound like us?”
