JENNY LEE “NEVER”
On December 11th, jennylee – Jenny Lee Lindberg, also of Warpaint – will release her debut solo album, right on! via Rough Trade Records.
On her musical evolution, Lindberg explains, “my love has always been movement – dance – and it dawned on me one day, how cool would it be if I could make music to move to?!? So I started playing bass at age 19; that seemed like the most obvious choice.” Evidenced in her locked-in bass grooves with Warpaint, this focus on movement is even more obvious throughout her rhythm-forward solo effort.
ALISSIA “TAKE OFF”
Underpinned by Alissia’s elastic bass playing, ‘Take Off’ is a virtual masterclass in what the low end is capable of. Complete with call-and-response vocals straight out of Prince’s playbook, and hyper-catchy space-age synths, it’s an irresistible call to party. With songs that sound like they could have originated from a loose-limbed James Brown jam session, Paisley Park or an as-yet unexplored future, Alissia is truly reinventing funk for the 21st century.

BERNE “IN THE WOODS”
Berne says, “‘Conversation’ is about relatable situations that are seldom expressed in contemporary music. You will hear about a journey through one’s darkest moments that are vital for progress in ‘In the Woods’; an inner voice expressing distress from its surroundings in a fast-paced ‘Lights’ adorned with eerie primal sounds; an anxious and restless account of seeking closure after death in ‘In the Scene’; and a light, satirical message for completing what has been started in ‘Espresso-Oh’.
“SAME SHIT”
One person’s trash is another person’s inspiration for starting a dystopian-themed punk band. Well, at least that’s how it worked out for Tommy Siegel. The Jukebox the Ghost and Drunken Sufis guitarist was leaving his Brooklyn apartment one day when he spotted a copy of Jeremy Schmall’s The Cult Of Comfort in the recycling outside his building. He flipped through the book, and soon became engrossed by the writing. It quickly turned into an obsession, as he repeatedly read the cynical and surrealistic collection of poems from cover to cover again and again.

LTN JOINS REMIXERS ON THE SPACIES “INFINITY” EP

The original track was recorded atop a 9,000 foot mountain in the Purcell Mountain range of British Columbia, adding new heights to the already soaring vocals and airy guitar melody. LTN’s remix amps up the tempo and adds progressive house beats and trance undertones to the radio-friendly song worthy of the repeat setting on your music player.

LAFAWNDAH TITLE TRACK
Lafawndah exists at a unique crossroads between vocalist and producer, conceptualist and performer – a disciple of hyperlinked global sonics and steadfastly urban attitude. Like her acclaimed 2014 debut EP, the recording of Tan began on an island with the same minimal studio set-up. This time, with collaborators Nick Weiss and Tamer Fahri, it was Fire Island off the South Shore of New York rather than the Caribbean island of Guadalupe.

CHEVY WOODS NEW SINGLE
Taylor Gang Ent. rapper Chevy Woods teamed up with producers Ricky P. and Ghetto Guitar for “Fucc Up the Face,” a loose single debuted by VIBE that’s sure to heat up the clubs as the outdoor events of summer have concluded and party goers are heading indoors. “I’m putting this one out specifically for club DJ’s,” Chevy Woods said. “I really wanted to put something out there for everyone to turn up in the club.” Guitar picks, rumbling bass, and rattling percussion set the tone for Chevy to kick cocky, rambunctious bars. The song follows Chevy Woods’ The 48 Hunnid Project, which released in August, boasting collabs with DeJ Loaf, Post Malone, OG Maco, Rico Love, and Wiz Khalifa. The 48 Hunnid Project was a monumental release for Woods – it was the first retail release for the Pittsburgh rapper who’s carved his niche as a mixtape king.

KELLY CLARKSON RELEASES MUSIC VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE “PIECE BY PIECE”
“I like to think of Piece by Piece as the happy ending to Because of You. It’s not the happiest story in the beginning, but it’s a real one that I decided to write after a conversation with my sister. So many of us had to grow up without parents to model a healthy relationship for us, so we often get into dysfunctional relationships because it is what is familiar. We end up settling instead of being with someone who is worthy of our hearts and our time. We all deserve to feel worthy of love. We all deserve to be truly loved. This song is basically my past, present, and future. It’s my love letter celebrating and thanking my husband for being a man that knows how to love me and our children without expecting anything in return. Also, this is a promise to my kids that I will never cease to love them, and be present in their lives always.”
