Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Green Day are pleased to share Heart Like a Hand Grenade, an unprecedented behind the scenes look at the writing and recording of their legendary album American Idiot. The documentary will be available for purchase digitally and on DVD via Reprise Records tomorrow, November 13, 2015.
Captured on film by director John Roecker, Heart Like a Hand Grenade is considered by many to be a “lost film”. More than 10 years after the release of American Idiot, the 2015 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees present this time capsule rock doc that takes us inside the songwriting and recording process of their Grammy Award-winning punk rock opera. American Idiot achieved Multi-Platinum status worldwide and became a hugely successful Broadway show. Looking back on the band in the studio is both nostalgic and insightful-the band knew they had something good, but even they didn’t know how good.

ASTROPOOL NEW SINGLE
Astropol matches Peter Bjorn And John’s Björn Yttling with Shout Out Louds’ Bebban Stenborg and Smash. The trio’s debut album The Spin We’re In is out next month, and single “Make Love Stay” suggests it’ll be a good one. Astropol’s music was allegedly inspired by the likes of Suicide and Willy DeVille (no relation), though this song’s shoegaze haze, crisp electronic drums, and tender celestial singalong remind me of the ’90s more than the ’70s. “You can make love leave, but you can’t make love stay,” goes the chorus. It is extremely pretty, and it will make you feel something.

Thursday, November 12 during the chartered cruise on Norwegian Pearl, a female guest was observed intentionally going overboard while the ship was sailing the Yucatan Channel. The ship’s crew immediately initiated rescue measures, including deploying three rescue boats and notifying the Coast Guard and other relevant authorities. The search for the guest is ongoing. Both the ship and charter company teams are providing support to the family and all impacted guests during this difficult time.

JASON COLLETT PREMIERES VIDEO FOR “SONG AND DANCE MAN”
The video, compiled and edited by Arts & Crafts label-mate Hayden, shines a light on the trials and triumphs of the modern musician by creating contrast with archival footage of a variety of performers from a bygone age (courtesy of Prelinger Archives, San Francisco).
“I had a great time working with Jason on this video,” says Hayden. “He found this wonderful footage of the 1939-40 New York World’s Fair: amateur videos of a time that differ from today’s ‘shoot everything’ mentality. Much of the footage is quite striking and thoughtful. Editing to such a great, catchy song was a real pleasure.”
