FALLS NEW SINGLE AT WSJ
They met. They fell in love. They wrote songs. They fought. They made up. They broke up. They wrote songs. Now, the acclaimed Australian duo behind Falls—Simon Rudston-Brown and Melinda Kirwin—will make their U.S. debut with the brand new album, Omaha. “Our songs are at times deeply personal,” says Kirwin, “they’re raw, they’re real, and they’re very honest.”
The Wall Street Journal is premiering the first track from the album, “Let In The Light,” today. The Journal says, “The song pairs a big drum sound and swaths of strings with Kirwin’s sweetly sorrowful vocals for a sound that builds to soaring and cinematic.” Listen to the track HERE. Omaha, which is produced and recorded by Mike Mogis (Jenny Lewis, First Aid Kit, Bright Eyes, M. Ward), is set for release October 2 on Verve and is available for preorder on iTunes today with an instant download of “Let In The Light.”
MIDDAY VEIL “BABEL”
The beating musical heart of “This Wilderness” remains the out-sized synth wizardry of co-founder David Golightly, who seems to have ingested every possible mind-altering sound from Stockhausen to Cybotron to the “Love to Love You” of Donna Summer. They’re all on display here, made especially ornate by the driving percussion of Garrett Moore, the deep, submerging bass of Jayson Kochan, and the often-explosive, reptilian guitar lines of multi-instrumentalist Timm Mason. Rounding out the lineup is an all-star cast of guest spots including Bernie Worrell (Parliament, Funkadelic), Eyvind Kang and Skerik.

LEISURE CRUISE NEW VIDEO “MOTHER”
Popular TV has premiered the new Leisure Cruise video for the band’s single “Mother.” Popular TV said, “The badass duo-comprised of Broken Social Scene’s Dave Hodge and Firehorse’s Leah Siegel-found their cinematic side in “Mother,” and made a gorgeous visual component to go alongside with it. The video-filmed in Cuba-follows the story of a girl who by day cleans hotels and by night dances in the water. There’s something really empowering about watching the leading lady find a sense of confidence and power in her dreams.”
KID CADAVER FREE EP
The San Fernando Valley natives deliver hook-driven songs filled with infectious melodies, and gang vocal choruses. Roam’s first single, “New Friends”, was premiered in March, prior to the band’s maiden trip to the SXSW Music Conference in Austin, Texas, receiving strong support from both LA’s alt-rock stations, KROQ and ALT 98, garnering over 69,000 plays via Soundcloud. The follow up single, “Keep Well”, arrived earlier this month, and is already receiving support from ALT 98, once again.
PROBCAUSE NEW SINGLE
With his Drifters project slated to release next week via Electronic music producer Gramatik’s Lowtemp label, ProbCause has shared the energetic lead single, “Back To The Future.” Distorted vocal samples sit atop slapping percussion and fluttering synths that are accompanied by jolted horns and keyboard taps that lay the groundwork for the track, which is produced by the Lowtemp label head. As for the rhymes, ProbCause is in his comfort zone with confident, loose-lipped raps stating “I ain’t offended if you give up on me I ain’t even mad.” Rapping over Gramatik’s heavy electronic production, the ProbCause showcases his multi-genre adaptability by delivering the same lyrical punch that we’re used to hearing from the Chicago rapper over a foreign backdrop. “Using the innovative capacities of Gramatik’s electro-funk and glitch-hop origins, Probcause lays down a spastic flow of progressive lyrics that work perfectly within the production’s framework,” said ThisSongIsSick in their premiere.

Like Hearne’s previous release for New Amsterdam, the widely hailed Katrina Ballads, The Source draws on a litany of primary source texts (stitched together by librettist Mark Doten) – including Twitter feeds, cable news interviews, chat transcripts and declassified military reports.

SEA OF BEES “TEST YOURSELF”
Julie Ann Baenziger – Jules – was born in the suburbs of Roseville, just outside of Sacramento, CA, quiet and shy, eccentric but happy. She grew up safe and warm, in a sheltered family, content to not know what she wanted to do with her life. Then in her late teens, she went to church with her sister, heard an older girl singing, and fell in love with her instead of God.
Suddenly she knew what she wanted, what she had to do – become a musician, and get her music into the world. But it was only years later, when Jules became Sea Of Bees, that she became herself. When you hear her, you realize she is the kind of singer-songwriter you come across only a few times in a lifetime – special, unusual, leaping out at you like an alien, her character fully-formed, her uniqueness intact.

Bringing styles of the orient into this bouncing house production, Goshfather & Jinco take us on a journey through their own exploration of the genre. Brilliantly catered to the more conscious electronic fans, this track proves itself as pilgrimage from the standard into a new age of house music.
