YOUTH LEAGUE “FOR JOHN”

Youth League, the post-pop trio from Wilmington, NC, has released a new music video for a song off their debut EP First. The instrumentally-driven track, “For John,” shuffles in nonchalantly before exploding into a passionate and aggressive climax. The song pushes and pulls frantically while still being able to find a solid groove and shows how much can be said in a song without any words.

“For John is about loss. Written for a family member Zack and Mike lost recently. The decision to write a song without words reflects the idea that there are no words for the loss of a loved one.” -Youth League.

PSYMON SPINE “SHOCKED”

The songs that make up the Psymon Spine EP are extremely dualistic by nature, partnering fuzzy synths with lush vocal harmonies, and futuristic beats with flowing string arrangements. They also take on (other)worldly structures, mostly rooted in forward-thinking pop music.

The bands’ music is like a stroll through a rainforest at night with a safe place to return to. Beauty permeates, but there are a thousand ways to die around every corner. Peace and violence are interdependent, and while the full emotional spectrum resides within it, the end goal is optimistic – like the euphoria that follows physical exhilaration.

MIDNIGHT PILOT “LET LOOSE”

Originally from Holland, MI, the band moved to Nashville together to pursue music. In May 2014, the band released their acoustic EP, Let Go, which took “listeners through stories of growing up and falling in and out of love, all riding on a bed of lush vocal harmonies.” (Marmoset) The band also released their single, “Give Me What You Gave To Him,” which was featured on Elmore Magazine, who raved, “their soulful strumming, passionate singing and sweet harmonies are certainly full of, well, heart.” In addition to all of this, the band recently performed on stage with indie singer/songwriter, Damien Rice, in Nashville.

STEIN SANG NEW VIDEO

Stein Sang just premiered their new video for the title track from their debut EP “House of Sticks” The result is one of the finest moments in creative collaboration, when the mediums of music and visual genuinely connect on the core meaning of a piece of work. With a fanbase that is steadily growing and a new EP due out later this year, 2015 is sure to find much larger audiences joyfully experiencing the ethereal soundscapes Stein Sang so tactfully creates.

CKtrl STREAMS NEW ‘FOREST’ EP

CKtrl AKA multi-instrumentalist and producer 22-year-old Bradley Miller might be on his debut self-funded release but he’s been immersed in London’s sub low, grime, dubstep, reggae and garage culture for 10 years already. Whether that’s literally his Uncle’s Studio 1 7”s taking up every spare bit of space at his parents house (including his room) or working in Soho’s iconic record shops.

STRAY ECHO SHARE ‘GROUND’ (FEAT. LOLO)

‘Ground’, from Brooklyn’s Stray Echo, is a swaggering, synth heavy head snapper that fits in perfectly with a playlist that includes the Knife and Class Actress. Stray Echo are so new… you can barely smell the entitlement.

LUKE ANDERS “FIRE (FT REBECCA RYAN)”

The young and creative mind of Luke Anders is a name that’s been bubbling on the underground for some time now. Relying on nothing but solid production and a brain full of ideas, he’s taking on all comers and making moves way beyond his years. Teaming up with Rebecca Ryan – the pair have been picked up by the keen ears of Wolfrage Recordings – a label that know a thing or two about breaking new talent.

‘Fire’ lives up to its name with a glorious piano intro that immediately shows off Luke’s thorough understanding of the theory lost on many electronic music producers. A gush of FX risers, short atmospheric bursts and a steady, but not belligerent stack of snare rolls swerve around Rebecca’s lush vocals and hit full force on the arrival of a main-stage-worthy drop. Luke lets off a super-sized pile of highly melodic and euphoric leads and chords, resulting in a big moment that’ll get arms flying on any dance floor where uplifting electronic bliss is top of the menu.

THE DOORS: OTHER VOICES AND FULL CIRCLE

After singer Jim Morrison died in 1971, the surviving members of The Doors – drummer John Densmore, guitarist Robby Krieger, and keyboardist Ray Manzarek – continued to make music together as a trio and went on to release two more albums: Other Voices and Full Circle. For years, that music has only been available digitally.

That will soon change as Rhino announces plans to release OTHER VOICES and FULL CIRCLE on both vinyl and CD. The vinyl edition of each album will be pressed on virgin 180-gram vinyl and will come packed in historically accurate sleeves. That includes the wild, foldout zoetrope that came with FULL CIRCLE. Once assembled, this basic animation device depicts the human life cycle of a man from infancy to elderly. Available separately on September 4 from Rhino, the vinyl editions of OTHER VOICES and FULL CIRCLE will be available for list prices of $24.98 and $26.98 respectively.
