PILLARS “WOMAN WITHOUT HER LOVE” VIDEO
Following the release of her second, blissfully electronic outing, ’Woman Without Her Love’, London-based newcomer PILLARS has now unveiled an accompanying video. Shot by Harvey Pearson (Aquilo and Låpsley), the visuals offer up a narrative that perfectly mirrors the slow-burning sophistication of the song. Preparations are now being made for PILLARS’ debut performance, with electronic duo Deafkid (previous live band and production for Ghostpoet) stepping in to create a live show around her recordings.
New single ‘Woman Without Her Love’ is a suitably melancholy affair, drifting in and out of lush, ambient swells as the young songwriter’s unmistakeable vocal glides high above a solid rhythm section. Recorded with Brett Shaw (Florence + The Machine, Say Lou Lou, Daughter and Kyla La Grange) at Peckham’s 123 Studios, the track also features additional production from the Deafkid two-piece, who have skilfully brought new life to PILLARS’ sound, while maintaining a familiar foundation of layered vocal samples. Having also been snapped up by hotly-tipped UK producer Daktyl to work on the wonderfully chilling ‘Temptress’, these recent collaborations provide an exciting insight into PILLARS’ future and show how much scope there is for her sound to develop as she prepares for an album of her own.

The six talented members of KLONE combine their influences into one cohesive and satisfying progressive stew with mature, otherworldly rock overtones. Today, fans can witness the art of KLONE first-hand via a track premiere of their haunting cover version of the traditional classic “Summertime”. Guitar World says it best, “I know what you’re thinking. You’ve heard this song a million times. But I can guarantee you’ve not heard this dark and intense version from French metal band, KLONE. Easing in with guitar and sax, the song is slightly bent and a bit disturbing. This is not your mother’s “Summertime,” that’s for sure!”

PURE GROUND ‘STANDARD OF LIVING’ LP LISTEN TO SAMPLES HERE
Standard Of Living, the new LP by Los Angeles’s Pure Ground, finds the duo moving further into the whirring electrical storm only suggested at by their more minimalist previous recordings, creating a soundtrack to a crumbling culture full of provisional one-two rhythms and syncopated bursts of white noise, complimented by grim arpeggiated melodies. Pure Ground have created a niche in the LA hard electronics underground making exclusive use of analog hardware to arrive at their sound, which straddles a fine line between early EBM on tracks like “Poison” and “Second Skin”, owing inspiration to Belgium’s Klinik and Front 242, and more melancholy minimal synth on downers “In Silence” and “Tides”.
