AVICII & VOLVO HOOK UP
Volvo Cars and Swedish artist and producer Avicii announce a creative cooperation to celebrate their Swedish roots with a new recording and music video, due for global release on May 8. The collaboration will form the basis for a global brand campaign entitled ‘A New Beginning.’
The Stockholm-born producer and artist Avicii, 26, has made a huge impact in the world of music in recent years, and is renowned for being one of the world’s top DJs, remixers and record producers. With a shared Swedish heritage, Volvo Cars and Avicii are now both entering a new phase in their existence.

CARSON SEKOL “TRUST ISSUES”
Imminence Records’ Virginian solo artist Carson Sekol, who is the current vocalist of Bellevue (formerly named Tessellations), has just released his first single “Trust Issues.” On the single Carson candidly spoke, “This past year has been a weird one for me. I was in a long term relationship for the first time in what feels like forever, and I’ve got a past that made it really tough to trust her. I finally gave in, tried to trust her, fell for her, and got screwed over pretty badly in the end. It was vicious. Looking back, I really feel like my trust issues have kind of been allowed to define me this past year or so, and I hate that. I’m trying hard to get over them, and it’s been really tough for me. So naturally I wrote a song about it. It’s the lead single, but it’s also the title track for the EP. I think it’s one of the most personal songs on the album, and it paints a solid picture of what I want people to get out of the EP as a whole. Expect to learn a couple things about me when you listen to the song, because a lot comes out.”

BATTLECROSS ON SUMMER OF DOOM TOUR
Motor City thrashers, BATTLECROSS, will join Crowbar and Lord Dying on The Summer Of Doom North American Tour. The trek will commence on May 28th in Shreveport, Louisiana and run through nearly three-dozen cities before winding down on July 3rd in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. (BMI), the global leader in music rights management, will present the President’s Award to P!nk for her outstanding achievement in songwriting and global impact on pop culture and the entertainment industry. Vin Diesel has premiered the touching “See You Again” music video from Grammy-nominated Wiz Khalifa (featuring Charlie Puth) via his Facebook page. Within the first twelve hours, the video for the song that is featured in the closing sequence of FURIOUS 7 has reached a staggering 40 million views and more than 800,000 shares on Facebook. Directed by Marc Klasfeld, the video features footage from FURIOUS 7, as well as retrospective footage of some of the most memorable moments from the film franchise.

DIGGY SIMMONS AT THE WHITE HOUSE
Diggy Simmons had the honor of performing at the 137th annual White House Easter Egg Roll hosted by the First Family. Having been around since 1878, The Easter Egg Roll has been one of the longest-standing American Traditions at the White House. This year’s egg roll theme was #GIMMIEFIVE in occasion to the fifth anniversary of Michelle Obama’s campaign to get kids to eat healthy and exercise. More than 35,000 people gathered on the South Lawn and took part in different activities including fitness zones, cooking demonstrations and the traditional egg roll.

Following a successful winter tour and his second season as a judge on American Idol, Harry Connick, Jr. announced today a 20+ city summer concert tour beginning July 9 in San Diego, CA that will travel through cities such as Portland, Salt Lake City, Denver and St. Louis. When you have family members who have fully established themselves in the entertainment biz, it can be daunting to try and create a name for yourself. But Jon Foster and Chelsea Tyler, brother of actor Ben Foster and daughter of Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler, seemed to have settled on a good one. Kaneholler, the electro-soul duo formed when the newly engaged couple first met in 2011, is an old nickname for the Tyler’s farm down south. “There’s a bamboo forest on the farm, and switch cane is a type of bamboo,” Tyler tells InStyle. “Holler is slang for ‘down yonder’. It was the place where the kids went to get away from the adults.”

JHS “JUNGLE JUICE”
jhs (Justin Hunter Scott) received his Masters degree in African studies from Yale University in 2013, an impressive education which he channels into his music, integrating neo traditional African music into each track. Formerly appearing under the moniker Stout Cortez at the 2012 Warp Records showcase at SXSW, jhs today releases music under his own label — Kelewele Records (“plantains” in the Twi language from Ghana). Although jhs draws influence from the African traditions he studied extensively, he is most focused on creating experimental pop music which is unique and modern, deriving novel sounds from African samples.

Sixteen-year-old singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes, who is the youngest artist to lead the Billboard 200 in nearly five years, has signed an exclusive global publishing agreement with Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG), it was announced today by Jody Gerson, Chairman and CEO, UMPG.
Through the deal, UMPG will represent Mendes’ entire songwriting catalog, including all songs on his new No.1 album Handwritten (Island Records), which was released on April 14. Mendes wrote or co-wrote the majority of the songs on the album.
