Rhett Miller has been playing in touring bands (most notably Old 97’s) for the better part of 20 years, aka travelling from town to town for an entire generation. Thus he has definitely earned the right to title his latest solo album The Traveler, which will be released on May 12th. Courtesy of the Wall Street Journal you can now listen to the previously unreleased track “Kiss Me On The Fire Escape.”

Although the album was written and performed by Miller he also had some help, most notably by the members of Black Prairie, a band based in Portland that plays everything from bluegrass to klezmer to country and shares members with the Decemberists. Peter Buck of REM also added additional guitar work.
