RÖYKSOPP ANNOUNCE THEIR FINAL ALBUM + ALBUM OPENER “SKULLS”
Röyksopp will release their fifth and final album, The Inevitable End on November 11th via Cherrytree Records/Interscope. The Inevitable End is Röyksopp’s most personal album to date and their second album release in the space of six months, following their critically acclaimed mini album Do It Again with fellow Scandinavian legend Robyn.
“With ‘The Inevitable End’ we’ve moved into a darker subject matter, with emphasis on the lyrical content. This candid approach feels very both personal, sincere and conclusive,” says Svein. “With this album it became clear we wanted to make an album in a classical sense even if it’s the last one we make,” adds Torbjørn.

Combining the classic pop songwriting of Elliott Smith and Paul Simon with the dark American folk of Townes Van Zandt on their debut album, Palm Ghosts, the band presents eight introspective stories about love and loss. REVOLT, an American-music-oriented network designed to be “for the artists, by the artists,” is joining the Verizon FiOS TV lineup in October. REVOLT will be featured in the FiOS TV Ultimate HD package on Channel 726 HD and launching on Verizon’s FiOS Mobile App soon, giving customers anytime, anywhere access. The network, which launched in October 2013, is owned by Sean “Diddy” Combs.

Tears for Fears’ biggest-selling album, Songs from the Big Chair, will be released in its most spectacular format on November 11, 2014, via Universal Music Enterprises. The album, which spawned classic songs like “Everybody Wants To Rule the World,” “Mother’s Talk,” “Shout” and “Head over Heels,” will be available in five formats, including a six-disc deluxe edition box set featuring previously unreleased material and in a first for a pop album, a 5.1 surround sound mix by Steven Wilson.

MELANIE DE BIASIO’S “I FEEL YOU”
Belgian artist Melanie De Biasio is not one to be pigeonholed. Since the release of her latest album No Deal, she’s been heralded as a new voice in jazz, named the “Belgian Billie Holiday,” and drawn comparisons to Nina Simone among many others. She notes artists such as Frank Zappa, Abbey Lincoln, Pink Floyd, and late-period Talk Talk as influences, but her semi-improvised, dark, minimalist approach places her in a category entirely on her own. Earlier today, she revealed her latest collaboration – a remix of her song “I Feel You” by Eels’ frontman Mark Oliver Everett. Premiering exclusive on Stereogum, this is Everett’s first and only remix of a song.

The man who forever changed the sound of rock ‘n’ roll when he invented distortion, Kinks legend Dave Davies, has recorded a brand new solo album of all original material called ‘Rippin’ Up Time’ on New York based Red River Entertainment. Dave Davies founded the Kinks in the early 1960’s and forever changed music after he sliced up the speaker cone of a little green amp and created a revolutionary, distorted guitar tone and frenetic solo on the song “You Really Got Me”. Musicologist Joe Harrington described the Kinks influence: “ ‘You Really Got Me’, ‘All Day And All Of The Night’ … were predecessors of the whole three-chord genre … The Kinks did a lot to help turn rock n roll into rock.” In 1998, writer Bill Crowley wrote, “As lead guitarist and founder of The Kinks, Dave Davies is one of the most unpredictable and original forces in rock, without whom guitar-rock styles including heavy metal and punk would have been inconceivable. A member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Dave’s massive guitar sounds have inspired bands from Van Halen to Green Day.”
