EXIT VERSE PREMIERED “SEEDS” VIA A.V. CLUB

Ernest Jenning Record Co. is proud to announce the debut self-titled full-length from Chicago’s Exit Verse, due on November 17, 2014. The group premiered the record’s first single, “Seeds,” via A.V. Club, who noted that “The track sees [Geoff] Farina guiding the band into some classic-rock territory with his stomping staccato riffs, but as it moves forward and reaches its ethereal apex it shows Farina’s ability to take something gut-level and make it heady, just like he did so well with Karate over a decade ago.”

KANDI BURRUSS’ STATEMENT ON THE CANCELLATION OF THE “A MOTHER’S LOVE” TOUR

“I licensed “A Mother’s Love” to a promoter, with the high expectations of finally seeing my creation go on the road. I am very saddened and frustrated by the cancellation of the tour. More than that, my heart goes out to the cast, who all are AMAZINGLY talented. We all worked really hard to put together an awesome show. It breaks my heart that we won’t be able to put on this show for my fans, who have bought tickets and who were looking forward to seeing it. I stand with them in disbelief and despair that this has happened. I was caught off guard as well. I want to thank everyone who have supported all of the projects I have worked on. I hope you understand that the cancellation was beyond my control. Please don’t hold it against me! I know that a lot of tickets were sold and from what I understand, they will be refunded. Thanks to all the people who tweeted showing excitement for the show and sending love my way. I was supposed to be headed to Detroit this weekend and to find out that we’re not going kills me. To all the fans who volunteered to be on the street teams promoting the show, I promise to make it up to you! I love you guys! Thanks for your love and understanding. Much Love, Kandi”

RIHANNA VS NFL

The NFL has been mired in controversy since news emerged that former Ravens running back Ray Rice punched his then-fiancée in an elevator. The NFL initially suspended Rice for two games, sparking public outcry that the league does not take violence against women seriously. It took a viral video of the punch for the NFL to fire Rice.

CBS Sports addressed the issue during its Sept. 11 broadcast of the Ravens-Steelers game, but only fueled the flames when it decided to pull a song by domestic violence survivor Rihanna. Rihanna fired back, and hours later, the network cancelled her opener for the rest of the season. A Care2 petition demanding CBS apologize and create a policy against victim-blaming has more than 12,000 signatures.

In addition to traditional teaching methods and in-class discussions, “I Cram to Understand” supports this unique learning experience by inviting key members of the Hip-Hop community to join the students on campus or via Skype.

The lecture is open to the public and is set to take place at 4:00pm on September 25 at Dillard University’s Cook Theater, located at 2601 Gentilly Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70122.
