THE CHAINSMOKERS NEW MUSIC VIDEO “KANYE”
“Kanye” first premiered yesterday on Yahoo! Music, and its cinematic narrative picks up where the music video for the duo’s platinum-selling single “#SELFIE” left off. However, this time around, Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall tell an inspirational and invigorating Cinderella story of embracing who you are and owning it. The only proper verb for that action is “Kanye”. Moreover, notable influencers ranging from Mahogany Lox to Romeo Lacoste and Teala Dunn make spirited cameos in the video, making it a true event for the New York electronic dance music upstarts.

ATLANTA’S SEALIONS PREMIERE STRIKING “HONEY” VIDEO
Having cut their teeth on numerous projects throughout high school and college, Atlanta natives Jason Travis and Joey Patino formed Sealions in an effort to reach through the apathetic din of modern guitar rock and grasp something inventive and invasive. Sealions draws equal inspiration from the fuzzy guitars of 90’s West Coast alternative, the bubbly synthesizers of English new wave and French house, and the vocal harmonies of 70’s American super-pop groups. Joined by drummer John Craig and bassist/guitarist Keith Edmiston in 2009, the band continues to float genre lines unapologetically between dance and rock music.

ALBUM STREAM BY LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT
Under the moniker Los Angeles Police Department, Ryan Pollie makes the kind of homespun bedroom pop that excels in its quiet intimacy, while retaining its emotional weight under sparse instrumentation and soft delivery. On his 11-track self-titled debut album, Pollie wrote and recorded each song in a day, allowing for small imperfections and spurts of urgency found throughout the record. It’s a creative process Pollie has now become accustomed to: “This project really changed an important misconception for me. It was that music that I was making, which wasn’t recorded in a studio with a band, was illegitimate or not real for some reason.”

NEW SINGLE BY HARRIS HAWK
Straight from the heart of Boston, MA, meet the infectious sounds of HARRIS HAWK. The group has just premiered their riotous new single, “Make the Fonz Bleed,” from their latest record Mutes, via The Vinyl District.
Harris Hawk was formed in 2012 when Anne Warnock (vocals, guitar) and Oliver Hinds (guitar) realized they both liked weird, loud bands. Together they demoed a few songs, found them sufficiently weird, and sought other people to play them loudly. Steve Shannon (drums) and Mike Sullivan (bass) eventually came on board, and liked these unusual songs that Warnock and Hinds had created.

ISRAEL NASH’S “RAIN PLANS” FEATURED ON NPR’S “HEAVY ROTATION”
The album was produced by Nash, recorded and mixed by Grammy Award-winning engineer Ted Young (Sonic Youth, Kurt Vile) and inspired by Nash’s new home of Dripping Springs, TX which helped evolve the tone of his songwriting. Of the new music Nash notes, “I wanted to make an album that sounded like what I saw and somehow spread the peace that this place brings to me. These songs are all about moving from New York to the reaches of the Hill Country and what those hills represent to me, which is greater than just nature. It’s about my life and home. I really wanted to go new places and abandon any rules that had made me cautious before. It’s about creating an environment that is so much bigger than any individual.”

TOGETHER PANGEA “BADILLAC” VIDEO
together PANGEA do rock ‘n’ roll as it was meant to be – raw, unpredictable, and probably dangerous, but also blazing with intelligence, emotion and edgy experimentation. The Los Angeles-based trio made their bones as purveyors of post-millenial punk, but with their third full length release Badillac, they pay their debt to the supersonic 90s rock that first inspired them.

The original “Hook-Up Fee” was released as part of the soundtrack for The Glorification of Gangster art showcase in New York City. Of the remix, Impose Magazine raves, “The stripped down, slow and sparse nature of the original is turned up and treated with care, where opportunities for maximalist temptations are traded in an effective and precise process of amplifying certain stems while omitting others.”

JACK KOVAC NEW SINGLE “SONG OF THE SUMMER”
“Song of the Summer,” featuring Huxlee’s, allows you to feel those quiet summer days of the past echoing through the guitar riffs and building, expansive chorus. It boarders on the new, woodsier trend in indie rock, though still captures the 1970’s feel of carefree abandon that is fluent in so much of Jack’s music. The track stands as an ode to all of those summer time anthems from your youth, and the memories that immediately attach themselves to the melody when you hear it.
