Bishop Nehru, the 17 year old hip-hop phenom and the legendary DOOM have officially announced their long awaited
collaboration LP NehruvianDOOM out September 23rd via Lex Records / Noizy Cricket. The nine track LP, recorded in London / New York was fully produced by DOOM features vocals from both the legendary producer/ rapper and Bishop Nehru. Bishop first found out about DOOM from his work with the very popular Adult Swim cartoon Boondocks. Continuing in the trend and like minded love for phantasy they brought Ghostshirmp on board, known for his award winning animation on the Adventure Time cartoon series to create the artwork for NehruvianDOOM.
‘FINDING FELA’ SOUNDTRACK STREAMING IN FULL PREMIERED VIA AV CLUB
Knitting Factory Records is excited to share the full soundtrack to Finding Fela, the Alex Gibney-directed documentary detailing Afrobeat progenitor Fela Kuti’s life. The soundtrack premiered via AV Club, who called it “a sprawling collection of transcendentally funky tracks that span Kuti’s revolutionary body of work.” The soundtrack will be released on July 29, 2014 via Knitting Factory Records, and is available to stream or embed in full HERE.

AppleMarkKaren O is releasing the video for “Rapt” from her forthcoming Crush Songs, out September 9 on Cult Records, via Pitchfork. The video was directed by Barney Clay with production design from K.K. Barrett, who is known for his work with Sofia Coppola and Spike Jonze and was recently nominated for an Oscar for Best Production Design for Her.

While sneaking into the BET Awards and taking photos in front of Steve’s Market (the gas station from the movie Friday) were priorities during RETRO’s trip to Los Angeles, his reason for visiting was to shoot a visual for his forthcoming single, “How U Want It,” which premieres via HipHopDX and loosely pays homage to 2Pac’s song of the same title. “If I was gonna do an L.A song, I wanted to go where the roots of L.A. hip-hop started,” says the 22-year-old who lived in Detroit until age 13, at which point he moved to Atlanta.
