WAR ON WOMEN SIGN TO BRIDGE NINE RECORDS
Baltimore, MD-based co-ed feminist hardcore punk band War On Women are excited to call Bridge Nine Records their new home. The band just finished recording 11 new songs that will be released in early 2015 on their yet-to-be-titled debut full-length.
War On Women formed in 2010 by several veterans of the Baltimore rock scene, including members of AVEC and Liars Academy. Describing their sound as “thrash rock meets riot grrrl”, War On Women write songs too inventive and too loud to be overshadowed by their equally powerful messages. The band’s furious live sets capture all of the brevity and intensity of hardcore punk with another level of lyrical and musical sophistication. War On Women’s songs attack sexist attitudes and institutionalized patriarchy women everywhere still face in the 21st century with humor, intelligence, righteous anger and monster riffs.

REY PILA “BLAST” SINGLE
Rey Pila has announced they will be supporting Interpol on their upcoming tour, starting September 15 in Vancouver, BC and have been added to this year’s incredible Austin City Limits Festival line up. TRIGGER HIPPY TO RELEASE DEBUT ALBUM + NEW SINGLE
Trigger Hippy, a powerful soul-infused rock and roll band founded by drummer Steve Gorman (also a founding member of The Black Crowes) will release their self-titled debut album on September 30, 2014 via Rounder Records. Guitar World premiered the track “Rise Up Singing” today. The band includes dual lead vocals from multi-platinum recording artist Joan Osborne and singer-songwriter Jackie Greene, who also plays guitar and keyboards. Rounding out the group are lead guitarist Tom Bukovac, who co-produced the record with the band, and bassist Nick Govrik.

NEW SINGLE BY HE IS LEGEND
He Is Legend furthers their cult following here with the new song “Smoker Scoff” off their upcoming album Heavy Fruit. The track’s murky pre-chorus builds up and instructs you to “inhale, exhale,” before exploding into the very anthemic hook.
Heavy Fruit will be out via Tragic Hero Records on August 19th and marks the band’s first new record since 2009’s It Hates You. The album was produced by Mitch Marlow (In This Moment, Filter) and mixed by Bob Marlette (Rob Zombie, Alice Cooper, Saliva).

JIM PHOTOGLO RELEASES FIRST ALBUM IN FIVE YEARS
Nashville, TN-based folk singer/songwriter Jim Photoglo has released his first album in five years, Halls of My Heart. Impacting radio July 29, it is Photoglo’s first album on which he has written a majority of the tracks solo.
“I’ve written for a lot of other artists and co-written most of my own music in the past,” Photoglo says. “Since I wrote most of these songs alone, it was an opportunity for me to be extremely honest and explore some very personal experiences.”

I’m particularly proud that my own Pretty Hustle team was able to bring this record home without the help of a major label,” said Harris. EELS FRONTMAN RECEIVES FREEDOM OF LONDON HONOR
EELS frontman Mark Oliver Everett, a.k.a E was honored with one of the most prestigious and longstanding accolades in London’s history, the Freedom of the City of London (the Key to the City), today at a ceremony in London’s Guildhall. In 2010 the Metropolitan Police questioned Everett, suspecting him of terrorism while on an innocent stroll through London’s Hyde Park. Today he said, “To go from being a suspected terrorist, to having the Freedom of the City is quite amazing. It shows that anything is possible in London. I love this place!”

DC-based trio, RDGLDGN, are one of the most seamless examples of how music can transcend the traditional constraints of the term ‘genre’.
