SOULS OF MISCHIEF & ADRIAN YOUNGE SINGLE
Earlier this month, SPIN announced that prolific Oakland hip-hop group Souls of Mischief joined forces with multi-instrumentalist producer Adrian Younge for a collaborative concept album, There Is Only Now, which will be releasing via Adrian’s newly launched label, Linear Labs, on August 26. Premiering via Complex, the first single and title song, “There Is Only Now” features Snoop Dogg trading verses with the Hieroglyphics quartet for the very first time. The song is now available for sale both digitally and as a 7″ single with the accompanying b-side, “All You Got Is Your Word.”

LA-based, Island Records hip hop artist, KAPTN, teamed up with Juvenile to bring to you his summer anthem, “Black In The Behind,” which premiered yesterday on DJ Booth. In the track, KAPTN has moved on from Ricky Ricardo references to celebrities that possess the ASSets mentioned in the song title – Miley Cyrus, Fergie, and Christina Aguilera. KAPTN will release the official music video for the track this summer. Having been referred to as “The White Tyrese,” KAPTN sports similar co-signs from Justin Timberlake, Miley Cyrus, and Ludacris. NEW VIDEO SCHOOL OF SEVEN BELLS
Throughout 2012 School of Seven Bells were working on a follow up to the critically acclaimed Ghostory. When producer/guitarist Benjamin Curtis was diagnosed with T-Cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma in 2013 the band took a break. Today, School of Seven Bells is excited to announce plans to release a new album. Prior to passing, Benjamin had recorded his portion of the record in its entirety, both before he was diagnosed and after, between treatments. Alejandra is picking up where they left off and heading into the studio to finalize the next record. Stay tuned for more details to come.

Kan Wakan’s new video for “Like I Need You” which premiered yesterday on Consequence of Sound. Directed by Young Replicant (Lorde, The XX, Purity Ring), the video takes place over the course of a single night in a seedy yet strangely glamourous underworld where the hero’s death sentence is carried out with a surreal twist.
Kan Wakan’s debut full-length Moving On was released June 3rd on Verve. The Los Angeles-based band recorded the collection with engineers Darrell Thorp (Radiohead, Gnarls Barkley, Atoms for Peace) and Tom Elmhirst (Arcade Fire, Beck, The Black Keys).

Hardcore punk/rap metal veterans DOWNSET recently announced their highly-anticipated return with an upcoming performance at the revelled This Is Hardcore Festival in Philadelphia, PA on July 27th. Now, the band can announce their full plans for 2014, which include a brand new album, entitled One Blood, which will hit stores on July 21, 2014. Produced by DOWNSET guitarist Brian Ares Schwager and mixed by Wesley Seldman, One Blood was recorded in three locations – Venice and Overland rehearsal studio in Culver City, CA, The Basement in Baltimore, MD, and Creating Better Sounds studio in Palmdale, CA.
