ACOUSTIC FOR OSO LIVE STREAM FRIDAY NIGHT
The Melodic Caring Project (MCP), the Seattle-based non-profit organization that streams live concert events directly to hospitalized children, will live stream the ACOUSTIC for OSO concert benefiting victims of the devastating mudslide in Oso, Washington. The event, bringing together Northwest musicians to help out their neighbors, will feature Duff McKagan, The Presidents of the United States of America, Mark Pickerel, Kim Virant & Gary Westlake, Alessandra Rose, Joe Reineke of The Meices, V. Contreras and others performing acoustically at The Triple Door in Seattle on Friday, May 9, at 7:30 PM. All proceeds from the show will be donated to United Way of Snohomish County.
Via the technology used to bring concert events directly to critically-ill children in their hospital beds, Melodic Caring Project will film and live stream the ACOUSTIC for OSO concert directly to victims, families and friends of the people of Oso via Ustream (www.ustream.tv/melodiccaringproject), where they will be able to watch the show in the comfort and privacy of their own homes. Through a live-chat feature on the Ustream page, the family and friends and others logging into the stream can send real-time messages of support and encouragement to participants, creating a true sense of community for the victims of this natural disaster. The band’s debut album is undoubtfully inspired by its creator’s quest for enlightenment and meaning. “Nebulae” is a conceptual vision over life and death, seen in the form of a star’s life-cycle. The record is presented with eleven tracks divided into four chapters, from birth to extinction, creating intense emotional passages through each life stage.
“Nebulae” delivers a strong and dark but yet hopeful atmospheric sound, sometimes almost resembling a movie soundtrack. It combines all their progressive rock influences, including a cover for King Crimson’s “I talk to the wind” and ELP’s “The Sage”, with more contemporary alternative sounds, ranging from the exploding power of “The Prophet” and the ultra heavy guitars on “Watcher of the Light”, to smooth and peaceful sounds like “Deeper” or “Wings of Eternity”, with this last one adding a baroque feel.
