White Shag, a hard rock, female fronted, power trio hailing from the Motor City, took home the award for Outstanding Hard Rock/Metal Group at the Detroit Music Awards. The event was held this past Friday, April 19 at the Fillmore in Detroit, Michigan.
The band was up against some heavy contenders that span more than one genre such as Wilson (who is currently on tour with Gwar and Warbeast), As Darkness Falls (previously known as Chaos Theory) and 60 Second Crush. The outrageous applause and shouts that erupted as soon as the band’s name was announced clearly proved that the band were certainly the “underdogs” of the category and that they are an upcoming rock and roll force to be reckoned with.
