From the first moments of A City On A Lake’s self-titled debut listeners are transported from an aural urban landscape to a sonic oasis of organic/electronic textures, classically influenced songwriting and unique arrangements. It will be released July 17th on High Ceilings Music.
Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Alex Wong is the primary force behind City On A Lake, featuring vocal performances from Ari Hest and Ximena Sari?ana, who is featured on the albums first single “Oceanside.”
The moniker is derived from the history of Mexico City, which was built on the site of an ancient lake. But it can also be a metaphor for the classical orchestration (he studied Classical Percussion at University) and stirring harmonies layered upon Alex’s signature rhythmic approach. Or the musical and life experiences as a producer, composer, collaborator and performer that provided the foundation for the songs on this album to grow.
