Sallie Ford & The Sound Outside have confirmed the May 24 release of ‘Dirty Radio,’ their debut album for Partisan Records. With a clear, keening voice of rare power, Ford offers up 13 tracks of her uniquely soulful blend of rockabilly, pop, punk, and jazz, like the musical child of Buddy Holly and Ella Fitzgerald. Hailing from Asheville, NC, and now based in Portland, OR, Ford and The Sound Outside were voted Best New Band of 2010 by Willamette Week, which proclaimed “you simply can’t ignore this band.”
Ford and her group–Tyler Tornfelt (upright bass), Ford Tennis (drums), and Jeffrey Munger (lead guitar)–will unveil tracks from ‘Dirty Radio’ this spring at SXSW, and at a pre-release show in NYC on March 29 at the Mercury Lounge. See below for schedule.
