SELENA GOMEZ THINKS BIEBER WILL WIN BEST NEW ARTIST

Selena Gomez was on hand at the GRAMMY Nominations Concert special last week, where she helped announce the Song of the Year nominees alongside Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl. While that category may have some strong contenders, the Best New Artist category will certainly have everyone buzzing come GRAMMY night in February. Justin Bieber is up against Drake, Florence and the Machine, Mumford & Sons and Esperanza Spalding for the trophy and Gomez told MTV News she thinks Bieber will win.   Selena said, “I hope he wins, but I love Drake as well. It’s a really hard category so I don’t know who’s going to win, but of course I have to say Bieber.” Drake may be facing off against Bieber at the GRAMMYS, but Gomez will face off against her pal at the People’s Choice Awards in the Favorite Breakout Artist category. The other contenders include B.o.B, Bruno Mars and Ke$ha.

KATY PERRY ON THE SIMPSONS

Katy Perry turned in a racy performance on The Simpsons Sunday night.   The “Firework” singer guest-starred in a live action sequence on the show as “Moe’s” girlfriend, wearing a skimpy red latex dress with Simpsons characters’ faces on it. In the short scene, Perry delivers a sensual hug to “Mr. Burns” to improve his usual grumpy mood, after which he says, “I kissed a girl and I liked it.”   Things got even racier as the show’s credits rolled, when a puppet-sized Moe attempted to kiss human-sized Katy on the mouth but couldn’t reach. Instead he settled for her belly button but as “Moe” buried his face between her legs, Perry says, “That’s not my belly button… but I didn’t say stop!”   Earlier this fall concerned parents considered Perry’s play-date re-make of “Hot and Cold” with “Elmo” too risqué for Sesame Street
