KATY PERRY DEDICATES NEW VIDEO TO IT GETS BETTER

Katy Perry announced on her Twitter page that she’s dedicating her “Firework” video to the recently launched It Gets Better campaign, which lends support to young gay people who have been bullied. The clip can be seen on Eonline.com now.   The video was shot in Budapest, Hungary and shows the singer on a balcony in a lavender gown and is then seen belting out the song’s chorus in a cobblestone square with revelers dancing around her. Perry told MTV News that “Firework” is her favorite track from her latest album, Teenage Dream.

FERGIE NAMED BILLBOARD’S WOMAN OF THE YEAR!

Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie will receive the Woman of the Year Award at the 2010 Billboard Women in Music Event on December 2nd in New York.   Fergie spent 2010 touring the world alongside her Black Eyed Peas bandmates on the Blackberry Presents: The E.N.D. World Tour, performing hits from the group’s hugely successful 2009 album, The E.N.D.   The Peas own the longest streak of consecutive weeks spent at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart by any artist in the chart’s 52-year history, with 2009 singles “Boom Boom Pow” reigning for 12 weeks and “I Gotta Feeling” for 14. Additionally, “I Gotta Feeling” is the best-selling digital song in Nielsen SoundScan history.   The E.N.D. is the first album in two decades by a group to yield five top 10 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. The album has sold over 2.8-million copies in the U-S to date.  

FM TOP HOT 100 FOR SECOND STRAIGHT WEEK

Far East Movement hold on to the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for second straight week with their breakthrough single “Like a G6,” which features Cataracs & Dev.   Bruno Mars’ “Just The Way You Are” stays put at number two, and Rihanna is up one notch to number three with “Only Girl (In The World).”   Nelly drops one spot to number four with “Just A Dream” while Usher’s “DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love” featuring Pitbull holds at number five.

FM TOP DIGITAL SONGS CHART

Far East Movement’s “Like a G6,” which features Cataracs & Dev, reclaims the top spot on Digital Songs chart, selling over 204-thousand copies in its third cumulative week atop that list, according to Nielsen SoundScan.   Taylor Swift’s “Mean” arrives at number two with 163-thosuand downloads. The song follows the debuts of “Speak Now” and “Back to December,” which started at numbers eight and six respectively, on the Hot 100.

NICK JONAS TAKES A SPILL

The Jonas Brothers are no strangers to falling on the stage.   Perez Hilton got a hold of video that features Nick Jonas slipping on stage during a recent concert in Mexico.   Nick took to Twitter following the show to address his spill, writing,   “Great show… even though I had an epic fall during the flips with Joe.   Can’t wait to see that on YouTube… Not.”   The Jonas Brothers will take the stage in Lima, Peru on Saturday night.

MICHAEL JACKSON THRILLER MOVIE?

After the success of posthumous concert film This Is It last year, Michael Jackson’s music may next hit the big screen in a film version of Thriller. GK Films is negotiating to acquire the rights to a feature-length adaptation of the song, according to Deadline.com. Kenny Ortega, who helmed This Is It, is reportedly attached to direct, while The Hangover writer Jeremy Garelick has been pegged to pen the screenplay. The film’s plot is rumored to revolve around Vincent Price, who narrated the groundbreaking music video in 1983. Along with the Thriller film production, Cirque du Soleil is crafting two live shows based on MJ’s music that are set to launch in 2011 and 2012.

TRAVIE McCOY ARRESTED IN GERMANY

According to ContactMusic.com, Travie McCoy has been arrested for spraying graffiti on the Berlin Wall in Germany.   The singer was taken into custody Wednesday night and released on the equivalent of over two-thousand dollars bail. Travie and Bruno Mars play in Copenhagen, Denmark tonight.  

ORIANTHI RELEASES NEW VIDEO

Australian rocker Orianthi has released a new video for her song “Courage.”   The track is a duet with Lacey Mosley from Flyleaf.   The clip made its premiere on MySpace.com earlier this week.

CMT Crossroads Unites Train AND McBRIDE

Train and country singer Martina McBride will partner for a CMT Crossroads episode scheduled to air on November 20th. The one-hour show will be taped in Nashville for a private audience. Singer Pat Monahan spoke about the upcoming event saying, “Performing on CMT Crossroads with Martina McBride is an exciting honor for Train. Martina is an icon in the country music world because her voice is amazing and her songs are timeless. We can’t wait to share the Crossroads stage with her and her band.” Martina formerly appeared on CMT Crossroads with one of her idols, Pat Benatar, in 2003.

LADY GAGA: BEFORE SHE WAS FAMOUS

Lady Gaga had quite a few jobs before becoming one of the biggest pop stars in the world.   Not only did she have a brief appearance on an episode of The Sopranos, but according to Billboard, the “Bad Romance” singer also appeared in a video of students talking about the dangers of sexual harassment in schools.   Check out the vid on YouTube now.

KYLIE IS COMING BACK TO AMERICA

America, get ready for Kylie Minogue.   The Australian pop star told Mario Lopez on Extra that she will be coming to the U-S for a series of shows to promote her latest album, Aphrodite.   Kylie also had a short tour of the states last year.   We’ll keep you posted as more information becomes available.

LA ROUX ARE TIRED OF SYNTH MUSIC

La Roux have received worldwide airplay from the success of their hit single “Bulletproof,” but don’t expect to hear more of the same from the English duo.   Singer Elly Jackson told SpinnerMusic.co.uk that she doesn’t “want to make synth music” for the rest of her life, and that “the whole genre is so over.”   Jackson added that she wants the group’s next album to be “more human, more open, warmer.”

RIHANNA TALKS MISSING KATY’S WEDDING

Rihanna wasn’t able to attend Katy Perry’s marriage to Russell Brand in India, but the “Umbrella” singer thinks that her best friend understands.   Rihanna told Access Hollywood that she wasn’t able to attend because she was in the studio, but since “Katy is in the same industry… she knows how it can get.”   Ri-Ri also said that she was “fortunate enough to be able to throw her bachelorette party,” and was happy to be involved at all.

COULD KATY & RUSSELL FACE PRISON TIME?

Rumors are still coming out in India that Katy Perry and Russell Brand broke many rules when they decided to have their wedding at the Rathambore tiger sanctuary.   According to British paper the Daily Mail, Indian papers are saying that the ceremony was so noisy that animals were disturbed, thus breaking local laws.   Apparently, the newlyweds could face up to seven years in prison, but a director from the tiger reserve disagrees, calling the whole situation “ridiculous.”

NELLY DROPS “MOVE THAT BODY” VIDEO

According to HipHopNMore.com, Nelly has unleashed the video for his new single “Move That Body” featuring Akon and T-Pain. The club-ready-banger will be included on the rapper’s forthcoming sixth studio effort, Nelly 5.0, which lands on November 15th. After hearing the mastered version of Rihanna’s “What’s My Name” featuring Drake, we’re excited to see the visual for the newest offering from Ri Ri’s forthcoming Loud LP. EMINEM TO APPEAR ON PINK FRIDAY

Eminem is the latest heavy-hitting rapper that has contributed verses to Nicki Minaj’s debut Pink Friday LP. According to Rap-Up.com, the hardest spitting emcees out have recorded a song together called “Roman’s Revenge,” where Slim Shady goes back and forth with Nicki’s alter-ego. So far, Em, Drake and will.i.am are the only confirmed features on Pink Friday, but fans can expect more guest spots to be announced at a later time. Be sure to grab Young Money’s First Lady’s album on November 22nd.

TIMBALAND JOINS TWITTER

RapRadar.com reports Timbaland has finally given in and created a verified account on Twitter. Fans will now be able to follow the hitmaker on the social networking site under the name “Timbaland007.” Fingers crossed that he announces that he’s working on the follow up to 2009’s Shock Value II!

DRAKE DELAYS R&B MIXTAPE RELEASE

For those of you expecting Drake’s R&B mixtape, it looks like you’ll have to wait a little longer. SingersRoom.com reports Drizzy explained that since he’s “been rapping a lot lately” and creating “some great rap music,” that he’s “sort of took a hiatus on the R&B for a second.” He added, “It’s cool to do R&B, I love it, but it’s just hard for me to always commit to it.” The It’s Never Enough project was initially slated to drop in December, but it currently has no release date.

CELINE DION STILL HASN’T NAMED HER TWINS

Celine Dion has given her first interview after recently giving birth to twins, and in it, she reveals that she still hasn’t picked out names for her brand new youngsters.   She told France’s Gala magazine that she’s “read nearly 15-thousand names and nothing has stuck.”   She also says that she can’t decide if she should go with French or English names for the two boys.   Celine also has a nine-year-old son, Rene-Charles.

T.I.’S PRISON MENU REVEALED!

According to TMZ, T.I. is expected to begin his prison sentence on Monday for violating the terms of his probation, but he’ll have decent meals inside Arkansas’ Forrest City low-security prison for next 11 months. Apparently, Tip will feast on hot oatmeal, creamed beef, home fried potatoes, biscuits or wheat bread and skim milk for breakfast. For lunch he’ll chose from fried fish, baked fish, peanut butter and jelly or mac and cheese with baked potato or peas. His last meal of the day will either be chicken patty, chicken salad, grilled cheese with baked potato, navy beans (what the hell is that?) or salad. Sound appetizing?

In related news, the rapper has release the visual for his song, “Ya Hear Me,” which will appear on his upcoming album, recently re-titled to No Mercy. The clip, which might be the last video shot before his sentence, features cameos from Young Jeezy and the OMG Girlz.
