BLACK EYED PEAS AT THE SUPER BOWL?

USA Today is reporting that the Black Eyed Peas may perform during the halftime celebration at the Super Bowl in Dallas, Texas in February. The web site Sportsbybrooks.com is reporting that the group is going to perform at Super Bowl 45 next year, but the NFL has not confirmed the news.   The Black Eyed Peas performed at the NFL kickoff in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania back in 2009.   Super Bowl 45 will take place in Dallas, Texas on February 6th, 2011.  

JUSTN BIEBER’S FILM TO HIT THEATERS ON FEBRUARY 11TH

Paramount announced that Justin Bieber’s 3-D concert film will arrive in theaters on February 11th.   Director Jon Chu told MTV News the film is for Bieber’s fans and that it won’t be just a typical concert movie.   He said, “It’s a movie for his fans, a movie for people who don’t know him, and we’re gonna tell the underdog story of where he came from.”   Chu, who directed the recent film Step Up 3D, said his goal is to make the film a blend of concert/biopic/documentary.   In addition to the movie, Bieber is working on his new video for “U Smile,” his book arrives in bookstores in October, he’ll appear on CSI next week and he’s also said to be involved with Will Smith’s upcoming top-secret movie.

BRUNO MARS TOPS DIGITAL SONGS CHART

Bruno Mars’ debut solo single, “Just the Way You Are,” tops the Digital Songs chart, selling over 209-thousand downloads last week.   It’s the first time Mars has been number one on the Digital Songs chart as a lead artist. He previously guested on B.o.B’s chart-topper “Nothin’ on You,” which led for two weeks in May.   Last week’s number one, Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream,” falls to number two.  

KATY PERRY’S GLOBAL SUCCESS

Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream album has scored its second week on top of the European album chart. According to Billboard, the album debuted at number three in Italy and number seven in Poland, while it jumped four spots to number one in Australia. Teenage Dream falls one notch to number two in the U-K and Ireland, and it slides two spots to number five in France.   The disc is also at number five in Switzerland and number seven in Germany.

A WORLD RECORD FOR GAGA

Lady Gaga has set a world record.   According to NME, the pop star is now the holder of a Guinness World Record for having her album, The Fame, in the top 75 on the U-K album chart for 154 consecutive weeks.   The previous record of 134 weeks was held by Oasis for their album (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?

VIDEO FROM KATY PERRY’S HIGH SCHOOL PERFORMANCE

Earlier in the week, Katy Perry performed at Dos Pueblos high school, her alma mater in her hometown of Santa Barbara.   It was a show open to only faculty and students, but some footage from the special gig has now been posted online.   Head to YouTube.com to check out Katy performing her hit single “Calfornia Gurls.”

MADONNA IS HUGE IN THE U-K

Lots of history is being made in England.   Not only did Lady Gaga set the record for most weeks on the U-K album chart with The Fame, but according to BBC News, Madonna has just been named the U-K’s best-selling act of the century thus far.   Congrats to both Madonna and Gaga.

SARA BAREILLES THANKS HER FANS

Sara Bareilles’ new album, Kaleidoscope Heart, is number one in the country after selling about 90-thousand copies, and as you might figure, she couldn’t be happier.   The “King of Anything” singer wrote a note on her official website, thanking her fans for the opportunity to debut at the top of the charts.   Sara said that she’s “humbled, and grateful, and a little overwhelmed” by the whole experience.   Read more at SaraBMusic.com.

TRAIN UNPLUGGED PREMIERES TONIGHT

Tonight on Vh1 is the premiere of Train Unplugged.   Filmed in New York City, the San Francisco rockers perform a number of hits, including “Drops of Jupiter,” and their biggest single to date, “Hey, Soul Sister.”   Frontman Pat Monahan told us how it feels for the band to have their own unplugged special (See Related Cut #3).   The band also managed to fit a cover of Rihanna’s “Umbrella” into their set, and Pat told us how it came about (See Related Cut #4).   Be sure to catch Train Unplugged tonight at 11 PM Eastern on Vh1.

KANYE TALKS ABOUT TAYLOR SWIFT IN XXL

In the October Issue of XXL Magazine, Kanye West contributed a 40-page section and wrote a personal cover story about himself. Surprisingly, ‘Ye chose to explain what he was thinking when he interrupted Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. West wrote, “It definitely wasn’t about race. Where I messed up is, at the end of the day, it’s your show, Taylor. It’s your show, MTV.” The rapper revealed that the incident made him focus on his upcoming album. NE-YO AND FABOLOUS ISSUE “CRAZY LOVE”

Who knew the Fabolous verses that surfaced weeks ago would end up on Ne-Yo’s new song called “Crazy Love?” Now, the pair is recreating the same magic from that previous collaboration on the new track, “You Make Me Better.”   Fans can expect the laid-back song to be included on the crooner’s highly anticipated album, Libra Scale, which drops on October 19th.

LINKIN PARK & TREY SONGZ BATTLING FOR #1

Linkin Park’s new album, A Thousand Suns, was released Tuesday and according to Billboard, it could sell between 250 and 260-thousand copies by Sunday. They are currently on point to take the number one album spot of the Billboard 200, but pop star Trey Songz and his disc Passion are currently right behind L-P in album sales. Other rockers you should expect to debut in the Top 10 this coming week are Weezer with Hurley and Brandon Flowers with his solo album Flamingo. Learn more at Billboard.com.

B.O.B LOVED OPENING FOR JAY-Z AND EMINEM

One of the biggest highlights for B.o.B. this year was getting the chance to open for Jay-Z and Eminem’s Home To Home tour earlier this month. During the 2010 VMA’s, the “Airplanes” rapper sat down with us and recalled the entire experience (See Related Cut #5). Speaking of performing, Bobby Ray is expected to take stage tonight for the Detroit, Michigan tour stop of his Shootin’ Stars outing.

INFO ON DUFFY’S SECOND ALBUM

Duffy has released some information about her sophomore album, Endlessly.   According to NME, the follow-up to the popular Rockferry is due out on November 29th, and the first single will be the song “Well, Well, Well,” which features The Roots.   Learn more at NME.com.

LIL WAYNE DROPS TRACKLISTING

According to Rap-Up.com, Lil Wayne has released the official tracklist for his forthcoming album, I Am Not a Human Being. Led by “Right Above It” featuring Drake and “I’m Single,” the EP will hit online retailers on September 27th, which also marks the rapper’s birthday. If you want the physical copy, you’ll have to wait until it lands in stores on October 12th.

STAND UP TO CANCER IN LADY A’S WEBISODE WEDNESDAY

Lady Antebellum’s latest Webisode Wednesday is extra sentimental this week as the trio highlights their time at the Stand Up To Cancer event last week. Charles, Hillary and Dave noted it was important for them to help the amazing cause because each of them has lost someone to cancer. The video highlights important cancer statistics and features various people who have lost their lives, including family members of the band. During the telethon, Lady A performed their hit, “I Run To You.” Overall, the special raised over 80-million dollars which will go towards research and bringing new treatments to patients as quickly as possible. SWIFT’S BUSY SCHEDULE

The teen magazine J-14 has launched it’s very first Teen Icon Awards, and Taylor Swift leads the pack with several nominations including for Icon of the Year and Iconic Heart —for her charity work with Nashville flood victims. Fans can vote for Taylor now at J-14.com. Taylor’s Fearless album recently won an award at the 2010 Canadian Country Award’s for Top Selling Album. In between racking up honors, Taylor has been spotted on the set of a new project wearing a red-and-white basketball jersey, with Target brand bottles in the background. Reports are that it’s for an upcoming promotion for Speak Now, the deluxe edition of her new album which will be exclusively available at Target stores on October 25th.

50 CENT HITS STUDIO WITH LIL KIM AND OTHERS

50 Cent recently uploaded new photos on his Twitter page of artists that could potentially end up on his upcoming fifth studio album. The G-Unit leader has hit the studio with Lil’ Kim, Akon, Swizz Beatz, Busta Rhymes, Lloyd Banks and Ryan Leslie.
