Happy birthday Nick Jonas! The singer and guitarist turns 18 today. He will celebrate with a Jonas Brothers show in Chula Vista, California tonight. The guys wrap up the North American leg of their trek in Irvine, California on Sunday night. They resume their tour on October 21st in Monterrey, Mexico.
KATY PERRY TALKS TEENAGE DREAM TOUR
Could Katy Perry be hitting the road for a Teenage Dream tour in 2011? The pop star told MTV News on the red carpet at the Video Music Awards that the trek behind her hit album will “engage all of your senses.” She also wouldn’t reveal what the next single off the effort would be, but that the video for it will be “touching.”
KATY PERRY PERFORMS FOR HER HIGH SCHOOL
Katy Perry went back to her old high school in Santa Barbara, California on Tuesday to perform a concert for the students and faculty. According to a local news reporter from KEYT.com, it was a “madhouse” as the pop star sang tunes off of her new album, Teenage Dream, in a cheerleading outfit at her alma mater, Dos Pueblos high.
GAGA GETS POLITICAL
Lady Gaga recently got a little political during and interview on the Ellen DeGeneres Show that aired on Monday. The pop star called on Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to repeal the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy. According to Billboard, Reid’s campaign and Gaga traded talking points on Twitter after the lawmaker announced the vote. Reid told Gaga repealing the measure was the right thing to do. The politician tweeted, “Anyone qualified to serve this country should be allowed to do so.” Gaga responded, “God Bless and Thank You, @HarryReid, from all of us, like you, who believe in equality and the dream of this country. We were #BORNTHISWAY.”
ELLEN DIDN’T LIKE GAGA’S MEAT-DRESS
Ellen DeGeneres, who is a vegan, is apparently not pleased that Lady Gaga decided to wear her now infamous meat-dress on her show earlier in the week. The former American Idol judge spoke to Ryan Seacrest, saying, “Whether you’re vegan or not, it’s just weird to be sitting next to somebody wearing slabs of meat on their head and their body. COLBIE FILMS DVD, HEADS BACK TO STUDIO
On Tuesday night in New York City, Colbie Caillat filmed a concert that’s going to be turned into her first live DVD. The “Bubbly” singer wrote about the show on Twitter, thanking her fans for coming, and also for helping her when her “nerves” got the best of her at the beginning of the taping. SARA BAREILLE’S NEW ALBUM TO DEBUT AT # 1
Sara Bareilles has something to be very excited about. Her newest effort, Kaleidoscope Heart, is going to be the number one album in the country next week. The “King of Anything” singer sold around 90-thousand copies to secure her first top-of-the-charts debut. Sara told us that the success of her previous album, Little Voice, made her feel some pressure while recording Kaleidoscope (See Related Cut #5). SARA BAREILLES DEBUTS AT NUMBER ONE
Sara Bareilles scores her first number one album as her sophomore effort, Kaleidoscope Heart, bows atop the Billboard album chart, selling over 90-thousand copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Eminem’s Recovery is up one spot to number two, the Now 35 compilation slides one spot to number three, Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream holds the line at number four, while last week’s chart-topper, Asylum from Distrubed, falls to number five. Stone Sour bows at number six with Audio Secrecy and Interpol starts at number seven with their self-titled album. Justin Bieber’s My World 2.0 holds at number eight, Anberlin debuts at number nine with Dark is the Way, Light is a Place and Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam soundtrack drops one spot to number 10.
NEW RICH CRONIN SONG
Nearly a week after Rich Cronin died of leukemia, a new song from the LFO singer titled, “It Only Gets Better,” has been released by a New York radio station. According to Billboard, the song was recorded last year after a brief LFO reunion tour. Cronin, whose funeral was held on Tuesday in Kingston, Massachusetts, passed away at the age of 35 on September 8th, after battling leukemia since 2005. The singer’s label, Orange Freeze Entertainment, may be releasing more of Cronin’s songs in an effort to support the Rich Cronin Hope Foundation for Leukemia, which Cronin helped establish in 2005.
NO COLDPLAY ALBUM FOR 2010
Coldplay are hard at work on their fifth studio album, but unfortunately, we won’t be hearing it this year. Singer Chris Martin said the record will not come out till next year. Coldplay are working on the album with legendary music producer Brian Eno.
GOO GOO’S FRONTMAN DOESN’T LIKE STING
They say don’t meet your heroes, and apparently that applies for musicians meeting other musicians as well. Goo Goo Dolls frontman Johnny Rzeznik told Spinner.com that he once had the chance to meet Sting, and that it left him with a bad taste in his mouth. Johnny told the singer that his band, The Police, were a “huge influence” on the Dolls, to which Sting cheekily replied, “Don’t blame me.” Rzeznik said that he now thinks of Sting as a “real d**k.”
THE PLAIN WHITE T’S TO RELEASE WONDERS OF THE YOUNGER
The Plain White T’s will release their new album, Wonders of the Younger, on October 19th. The band’s first single off the effort, “Rhythm of Love,” is out now and climbing up the charts.

DID GEORGE MICHAEL CRY AFTER SENTENCING?
Did George Michael “cry like a baby” after being sentenced to eight weeks in prison for driving under the influence of marijuana? DUFFY TO MAKE ACTING DEBUT
Duffy is set to make her acting debut. According to the BBC, the Welsh singer-songwriter will be appearing in the film Patagonia, which stars countryman Matthew Rhys. The director of the flick told the paper that Duffy will be playing a “sort of Welsh Marilyn Monroe character.” The movie will premiere at the London Film Festival in November.
LILY ALLEN HAPPY TO BE DONE WITH MUSIC
It’s not always fun being a pop star — at least not for Lily Allen. The singer-songwriter told Grazia magazine that “people think it’s amazing being a pop star, but for all the good things that happen, you end up getting burnt, sad and losing a sense of who you are.” Allen added that she’s now interested in doing something she loves, and now that she’s expecting a child, she’s found just that.
NO DOUBT BASSIST IS HAVING A BABY
No Doubt bassist Tony Kanal is having a baby. The official trailer for Tyler Perry’s upcoming film, For Colored Girls, has surfaced. The movie is based on Ntozake Shange’s award-winning 1975 stage play, For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf and stars Janet Jackson, Thandie Newton, Phylicia Rashad, Loretta Devine, Kerry Washington, Whoopi Goldberg, Kimberly Elise, Anika Noni Rose and more. The film, which is about women dealing with deep issues, is expected to hit theaters on November 5th.
