KATY PERRY READIES NEW SINGLE

Katy Perry will release her new single “Teenage Dream” on Monday.   The song is the title track off her next album, due next month, and the follow-up single to her huge summer hit, “California Gurls” featuring Snoop Dogg.   “Gurls” has been the number one song on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for six straight weeks.   Teenage Dream the album will hit stores on August 27th.

LIFEHOUSE GO “ALL IN”

At the Vh1 Do Something Awards on Monday night, Lifehouse performed their most recent single, “All In.”   We caught up with band frontman Jason Wade on the red carpet and he told us a little bit about the tune (See Related Cut #3).   Lifehouse just wrapped up a tour with Daughtry and will be hitting the road for their own headlining trek later in the year.

JUSTIN BIEBER NOMINATED FOR BOWLING HALL OF FAME

Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift are among the celebrities nominated for the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame.   The Bowling Proprietors’ Association of America (BPAA) announced its 2010 class of nine nominees for consideration into the Celebrity wing of the hall.   Bowling aficionados Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift as well as Bill Murray, who starred in the bowling comedy Kingpin, Oscar-winner Jeff Bridges, who of course starred in The Big Lebowski and more are up for the honor.   Fans can vote for their choice at www.gobowling.com.  

OTHER NOMINEES including NBA players Chris Paul and Dwight Howard and Jimmy Fallon and Kim Kardashian.

AUBREY O’DAY LANDS NEW REALITY SHOW

Former Danity Kane singer Aubrey O’Day will return to her reality-TV roots with The Aubrey O’Day Project, an upcoming series on the Oxygen network. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show will follow the former Making the Band star as she attempts to make a comeback in the music business “while working with a demanding team of industry professionals.” Since leaving Danity Kane, the 26-year-old, has appeared in Playboy, performed on Broadway in Hairspray and danced in the Las Vegas burlesque show Peepshow.   O’Day is also reportedly in the studio working on a solo album.

ALICIA AND SWIZZ TO MARRY BEFORE THE BABY

Alicia Keys is five months pregnant with her first child with fiancé, Swizz Beatz. However, sources tell Life and Style magazine that her baby bump isn’t stopping her from wanting to get married soon. The ceremony will take place in Europe and will include celebrity guests like Jay-Z and Beyonce. The insider adds, “She’s decided on a Vera Wang gown and has been eyeing Christian Louboutin shoes” and family members feel “they make a great couple. They’re perfect for each other.”

CIARA GETS PUSHED BACK TO OCTOBER?

UrbanBridgez.com has learned Ciara’s forthcoming album, Basic Instinct, will no longer arrive this summer. Fans will have to wait until October to hear the follow-up to 2009’s Fantasy Ride. No confirmed date is known at this time. Sources say Ci Ci wants to add more songs to the project, which will be executive produced by Tricky Stewart and The Dream.

WHITNEY HOUSTON STILL ON DRUGS?

The National Enquirer reports Whitney Houston is apparently still addicted to drugs. Rumor has it, the legendary singer hired a personal drug dealer to buy “six thousand dollars worth of cocaine during one of her Europe tour stops.” A party promoter told the site, “Whitney is a dead woman walking! With the amount of drugs she’s buying, she won’t be able to live long. She’ll be dead in months.” The Enquirer also claimed their investigation shows that Houston spends 63-hundred dollars weekly to support her habit — which amounts to nearly 327-thousand a year! We certainly hope this is one rumor that isn’t true!

DR DRE PREMIERES HP COMMERCIAL

Dr Dre has released the new commercial for the Dre Beats edition of the HP Envy laptop. Fans can appreciate the instrumental for his single, “Under Pressure” featuring Jay-Z, playing in the background of the ad. You can check it out on YouTube now. And in case you were wondering, Dre’s long-awaited Detox album still has no confirmed release date.

TIDBIT: Justin Bieber recently tweeted “Got to be in the studio with the legend himself Dr. Dre. Made a couple beats and he gave me some advice…I was hyped. Can u blame me?”

MARY J SIGNS FIRST SINGER TO NEW LABEL

Over the weekend, Mary J. Blige introduced her new artist, Starshell, during an afterparty held at Le Passage nightclub in Chicago. According to ConcreteLoop.com, the singer is the first female artist signed to Mary J’s Matriarch record label. RUSSELL BRAND SELLING LONDON HOME

Russell Brand must be serious about marrying Katy Perry, because reports are coming in from England that the comedian has put his London bachelor pad on the market, and that there is already a buyer who is interested in purchasing it for around four-million bucks.   According to British paper the Daily Mirror, the pair is looking for a place together in New York City.

KELLY CLARKSON GOING TO THE STUDIO

Kelly Clarkson just gave an update about her next album on her Twitter account.   The original American Idol wrote that she’s “about to go record” the follow-up to her most recent effort, All I Ever Wanted, “with Howard Benson,” and that she’s “super pumped.”   Benson has produced for many different artists including Daughtry, Gavin DeGraw and Orianthi.   Follow Kelly at Twitter.com/Kelly_Clarkson.

TEA COMPANIES WANT GAGA

Lady Gaga’s a big tea drinker, and because of this, there are a couple of different tea brands that want to make her the face of their companies.   According to British paper The Sun, Twinings is out in front at the moment, having made a “multi-million pound offer” to the pop star.   A source told the paper that the English tea company wants to market the product in America, and that “Gaga is making drinking tea cool again.”

SARAH McLACHLAN WANTS TO BRING LILITH FAIR BACK…AGAIN

It’s been a tough year for the Lilith Fair, with the tour having to cancel a number of shows.   But that’s not stopping co-founder Sarah McLachlan, who is already looking forward to taking the trek out again next summer.   The singer-songwriter told Time Out Chicago that they’re “planning on doing it next year,” and that the Fair “came out loud and proud with a huge roster,” but that it was simply a “tricky time in touring.”   The Lilith Fair is in Detroit, Michigan tonight.

MADONNA GETS HIT WITH FINE

Madonna may get fined up to eight-thousand dollars for a party at her house that she didn’t even attend.   According to ContactMusic.com, her staff threw a karaoke party at her London home while she was away, and neighbors complained about the excessive noise.   The website reports that Madge is reportedly “furious” about the whole situation and that even though “Madonna likes a good party like anyone else,” she is still “respectful of her neighbors and doesn’t like to upset anyone.”   Madonna usually stays at the home when she’s in town with her children.

LILY ALLEN CANCELS FESTIVAL APPEARANCE

Lily Allen has had to cancel a couple of appearances recently and on Sunday, the singer-songwriter pulled out of yet another show.   According to AceShowBiz.com, Allen was set to perform at a festival in Spain over the weekend, but was told by doctors that she was too sick to travel.   She wrote on her Twitter account that she is “truly sorry” for missing the show and that she hates letting down her fans.   The gig was thought to be Allen’s last show before her retirement from music.

LILY ALLEN GETS RID OF FAMOUS FRIENDS

Lily Allen is supposed to be close to retiring from music, and apparently she’s slowly removing people in the biz out of her life.   A source told the Daily Mail that Allen has “deleted the numbers of her showbiz friends from her phone” and that she just “wants to concentrate on starting a family.”

ROCK HALL’S 25TH ANNIVERSARY SHOWS ON DVD

One of the biggest shows of last year was the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25th Anniversary Concerts at New York’s Madison Square Garden and now, Time Life will release a three-DVD set of the event.   The discs will include the full four-hour, Emmy-nominated HBO special along with unseen bonus performances and a collector’s issue of Rolling Stone magazine boasting behind-the-scenes stories.   Check out sets from Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Metallica, U2, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Jeff Beck, Simon & Garfunkel and many others when the DVDs come out on September 28th.
