MILEY FANS HAPPY WITH LIVE-STREAMED CONCERT

Miley Cyrus took over the Internet on Monday night when MTV live-streamed her live performance of six songs from her new album, Can’t Be Tamed.   The reviews are in from the show and it seems her fans are very happy with Cyrus’ new sound and edgier look.   After the live-stream ended, Cyrus covered The Runaways’ “Cherry Bomb,” and Joan Jett’s “I Love Rock and Roll” and “Bad Reputation.”   If you missed it, head over to MTV.com to see the performance.  

GAGA TOPS LIST OF LA SHOWS!

Lady Gaga is the number one requested concert in Los Angeles, according to Stubhub.com.   The website compiled a list of the top five most requested tickets in the Los Angeles-metropolitan area.   Gaga tops the list, followed by Muse, Roger Waters, Dave Matthews Band and Justin Bieber.   Lady Gaga will perform two shows at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on August 11th and 12th, while Bieber plays the Nokia Theater at L.A. Live on July 20th.  

LADY GAGA FINISHED WITH NEXT ALBUM

There are not a lot of details out there about what Lady Gaga’s next album will sound like, but she says it’s already finished.   She told Rolling Stone magazine that she’s been working on the effort for months and that she feels very strongly that the album is finished.   The record won’t be released until early in 2011, but Gaga added that she plans on announcing the title of the album at midnight on New Year’s Eve.   The 24-year-old said she’ll also get a tattoo of the album cover and send out a photo of the artwork.   Gaga graces the latest cover of Rolling Stone magazine wearing a bra constructed from machine guns, a thong and her signature heel-less hot pink “Bad Romance” shoes.   The issue hits newsstands tomorrow.

Justin Bieber kicks off his sold out headlining My World Tour tonight in Hartford, Connecticut. Each show will use 30 miles of cable, 30 towels for onstage use, one-million pieces of confetti, 10 disco balls, a metal heart that weighs 400 pounds and more.   There are nine trucks used to carry all the equipment and 11 buses for all the personnel on tour.   20 guitars will be used each show and somewhere between two and three-thousand guitar picks will be utilized on tour.

FOOD
10-thousand fries are consumed in one day.
75 Starbucks drinks are consumed in one day.
Pre-show snack favorites include Sour Patch Kids and Gummy Worms.
Dancers burn over 6,000 calories a show, each!

EQUIPMENT
30 miles of cable are used in the show.
30 towels are used onstage for each show.
20 rolls of electrical tape are used in a day (Over three-thousand feet of tape).
48,600 feet of gaffer’s tape will be used for the tour.

NE-YO REMEMBERS MICHAEL JACKSON

It’s really hard to believe that June 25th will mark one year since Michael Jackson passed away. We caught up with Ne-Yo to get his reactions on the death anniversary of one of his biggest musical inspirations (See Related Cut #3). ContactMusic.com reports a theater in London’s West End has announced they’ll be paying tribute to the late King of Pop on Thursday. A plaque honoring Jackson will be unveiled and the cast of the Michael Jackson’s inspired production Thriller Live! will sing a song called “Speechless,” which was recorded by Jackson shortly before he died.  

KATY PERRY WANTS RIHANNA TO STRIP!

Katy Perry and Rihanna have been palling around since last year – but now Perry hopes the two will become even closer. According to the New York Daily News, Perry told a Chicago radio station that she wants Rihanna to strip for her at her upcoming bachelorette party.   Perry added that she hopes RiRi would be willing to go completely nude for her pre-wedding festivities.  

DEMI LOVATO HEADS TO THE WARPED TOUR

DAVID ARCHULETA TO PERFORM AT A CAPITOL FOURTH

2008 American Idol runner-up David Archuleta and Darius Rucker will perform at the annual July Fourth holiday concert in Washington.   According to The Associated Press, A Capitol Fourth will be broadcast live from the West Lawn of the Capitol at 8 PM Eastern on PBS stations.   Actor Jimmy Smits is hosting the event. Reba McEntire, Gladys Knight and the National Symphony Orchestra are also scheduled to perform.   Archuleta will sing the National Anthem at the event.   The program is celebrating its 30th anniversary on the air.   It will end with a 17-minute fireworks show.

BRET MICHAELS’ HATS ARE POPULAR

The cowboy hats that Bret Michaels wore during his appearances on NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice have shot up in popularity.   Diva Amy Skaling, who designed the custom hats, has orders pouring into her studio.   While fans want to get Bret’s look by buying his black hat with feathers and a Harley-Davidson spark plug, most orders are for the rocker’s white cowboy hat with a black Roman cross.   To pay homage to the Poison singer, as a sign of appreciation, Diva Amy is donating ten percent from the sales of Bret’s hats to the Bret Michaels Foundation, which funds the American Diabetes Foundation.   Learn more about Diva Amy and her hats at TeamDiva.com.

ALICIA AND SWIZZ RECEIVE AFRICAN BLESSING

Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz recently participated in a traditional Zulu ceremony in Africa for their unborn child. According to Times LIVE, the recently engaged couple received a blessing under “the healing tree,” which represents good fortune and health. Alicia is currently five months pregnant. The newborn will be the singer’s first child and the producer’s second.

LIL WAYNE AVOIDS TIME FOR ARIZONA DRUG CASE

Lil Wayne has reportedly reached a plea agreement where he won’t serve additional time stemming from a 2008 drug case in Arizona. The Yuma Sun reports Weezy pled guilty in exchange for having all charges, including narcotics possession, dismissed. Instead of adding time to the rapper’s current jail sentence at Rikers’ Island, Wayne is expected to receive 36 months probation for the Arizona case.

PAUL WALL DROPS 100 POUNDS

Paul Wall is looking a lot slimmer these days. During an interview with BallerStatus.com, the rapper revealed that he decided to undergo surgery when he reached 320 pounds. The Houston native says he (quote) “lost 100 pounds, so I’m back at my fight weight. I’m ready. The champ is back.”   Wall endured gastric sleeve surgery and admits “it saved [his] life.” The rapper is currently promoting his upcoming album, Heart of a Champion, which drops July 13th.

JAY-Z SUED FOR UNPAID PRIVATE JET FEES?

According to TMZ, Jay-Z is facing a lawsuit from Air Platinum Holdings for failing to pay his private jet expenses. The mogul reportedly owes the airline company over 100-thousand dollars in travel costs, international fees, taxes and catering bills. Hova used the plane for 55 hours of service but only paid for 37 hours of it, leaving a hefty bill of 137,485 dollars. The rapper has not yet responded to the suit.
