SHAKIRA SCORES WITH WORLD CUP THEME SONG

Shakira’s new song “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” has been chosen as the official song for the FIFA World Cup 2010.   The tune will be performed by Shakira and South African group Freshlyground, at the Closing Ceremony before the World Cup Final on July 11th in Johannesburg Soccer City Stadium.   The song will be made available for download through digital retailers the week of May 11th. It also will be included on Listen Up! The Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Album to be released the week of May 31st. The video for “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” will premiere in mid-May.

ADAM LAMBERT TOUR DATES!

Adam Lambert will kick off his Glam Nation Tour on June 4th in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. As we previously reported, Allison Iraheta and Orianthi will open the show for the former American Idol runner-up.   The outing rolls through the country, hitting a lot of small cities like Sayreville, New Jersey, Toledo, Ohio, as well as Hammond, Indiana and Atlantic City, New Jersey. The tour also hits New York City, Columbus, Ohio and features a two-night stand at the Orange County Fair in Costa Mesa, California.   More dates are expected to be announced shortly.

NELLY FURTADO AT THE BILLBOARD LATIN AWARDS

Nelly Furtado will perform at the Billboard Latin Music Awards on April 29th.   The singer is up for four awards, including Latin Digital Album of the Year and Tropical Airplay Artist of the Year.   The singer released her debut Spanish singing album Mi Plan back in September.  

CRYSTAL BOWERSOX GETTING RADIO AIRPLAY

There’s still a month left to go on American Idol, but frontrunner Crystal Bowersox is already reaping the benefits of a winner.   As of last week, Bowersox could be heard twice a day on a Toledo, Ohio radio station, close to her hometown of Elliston, with her original acoustic song “Holy Toledo.”   Though no other stations have picked up the song as-of-yet, “Holy Toledo” has gotten enough spins to make to it to number 90 on the American Idol airplay chart, according to USA Today, making “MamaSox” the only one of this year’s contestants to crash the list.

KIELY WILLIAMS TALKS

As we previously reported, Kiely Williams is moving further away from her Cheetah Girl image with her new single “Spectacular,” which is a raunchy story of a drunken one night stand.   According to S2S Magazine, Williams says it’s time that we respect her as an adult. “I don’t like to think of it as an image. I like to think of it as presenting myself to the world as who I am. I really respected what Disney wanted to do and the market that we were selling to, but I’m 24 years old and it’s time for me to be me.”   The singer is also wants to host a talk show that will she light on social awareness for young adults.

JOSS STONE GETS A SHOE DEAL

Joss Stone has gotten herself a shoe deal.   According to SingersRoom.com, the singer-songwriter and Nine West are teaming up to release a line of footwear beginning in the fall of this year.   The Nine West Vintage America Collection took inspiration from Joss’ tattoos, and even incorporated them into the shoe designs and packaging.   Learn more at NineWest.com/VinatgeAmerica.

KELLY CLARKSON HAS A TOUGH TIME DOWN UNER

Kelly Clarkson reportedly had a tough time while she was in Australia.   According to PerezHilton.com, the original American Idol had trouble selling out show while she was touring Down Under in support of her most recent album All I Ever Wanted.   The gossip site reports that many of the arenas were only half full, and that she only performed to a little over two-thousand people when she was in Newcastle, when the venue actually seats five-thousand.   Learn more at PerezHilton.com.

Lady Antebellum’s Need You Now Album Certified Double Platinum

ONEREPUBLIC MARATHON

OneRepublic guitarist Zach Filkins is known for being a great guitarist, but what about for also being a great runner?   The rocker posted a video on the band’s official site from right before he ran the Hamburg Marathon in Germany, the second biggest in the country.   No word on what place he finished, but you can see the video now at OneRepublic.net.

CAROLINA LIAR ARE WORKING IN SWEDEN

KRIS ALLEN TEAMS UP WITH PAT FROM TRAIN

CREED GLAD TO HELP OUT THOSE HIT BY BAD ECONOMY

Creed just announced that they’ll be heading out on the 2010 tour this summer, which will offer tickets at the $10 and $20 dollar mark.   Creed’s tour gets underway in St. Augustine, Florida on May 20th.

GREEN DAY DO WELL ON BROADWAY

Green Day is a success on Broadway.   According to Variety, their American Idiot musical brought in over 777-thousand dollars in its first week on the Great White Way.   The band came out last week for the opening of the show, and even jumped onstage for a surprise performance on Thursday night. EVE EXPLAINS INTERSCOPE SPLIT

Eve is speaking up about what caused her to leave her long-tine label home with Interscope Records. The rapper explained to Vibe.com, the company “promised” to support her Flirt project — which was later shelved. Eve stated, “It’d be different if we didn’t have a meeting where people promised me sh**. If they were just like ‘Oh we’re going to put the album out and see what happens,’ that would be one thing. But they were like ‘No, we’re making sure this happens, it’s coming out on this date.’ But it’s all good, everything happens how it’s supposed to, when it’s supposed to.” The rapper is shopping around a new album called Lip Lock, set to drop later this year.

USHER HONORED BY FORD FREEDOM AWARDS

The Ford Motor Company and Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History will honor Usher during   the 12th Annual Ford Freedom Awards. The GRAMMY Award winning singer is being recognized for serving as the chairman and founder of New Look Foundation. The festivities will be held on Thursday, May 6th, in the Music Hall in Detroit, Michigan at 9 AM. In related news, Usher’s latest Raymond V Raymond album is available in stores now.

DRAKE ANNOUNCES THANK ME LATER IS COMPLETED

During his performance at the University of Missouri in Kansas City, Drake announced some pretty big news to his fans on Monday night. The “Best I Ever Had” rapper stated to the crowd that the final cut of his debut Thank Me Later album was completed and submitted.   Drizzy also spilled that the next single off the project is “Fireworks.” Now that the disc is done, Drake can focus on his Away From Home tour — which stops in Syracuse, New York on Friday. EMINEM’S NEW SINGLE TO PREMIERE THIS WEEK?

According to MTV News, Eminem is scheduled to release his new single, “Not Afraid.” The song is the first offering from his new album, Recovery, and will impact radio this Friday. While details surrounding the upcoming disc are sparse, we are happy to announce that the effort will hit stores on June 22nd.     The project is going up against Diddy’s long-awaited Last Train To Paris, Chamillionaire’s Venom LP and Dream’s Love King album.

MARIAH’S PERFUME NOMINATED FOR FI FI AWARD

According to SingersRoom.com, Mariah Carey’s new fragrance, Ultra Pink, is going up against other lines from Halle Berry, Avril Lavigne and Faith Hill at this year’s annual FiFi Awards.   Mi Mi is hoping to win best celebrity perfume line in the Woman’s Popular Appeal category for the event. The winner will reportedly be announced at a gala held by The Fragrance Foundation on June 10th.

GAME LIKES JUSTIN BIEBER?

According to Rap-Up.com, Game revealed his admiration for pop sensation, Justin Bieber.   The emcee stated, “I like the kid. I seen him perform. He’s a livewire. He gets it done.” The West Coast rapper admits, “He’s another artist that breaks the color lines. I love when people come along and they do that. Everybody loves this kid and he seems like a good kid. More power to him.” In related news, Game’s upcoming R.E.D Album is slated to hit stores on June 15th.

AMY WINEHOUSE TAKES A TUMBLE

Amy Winehouse took quite a tumble.   According to the Associated Press, the embattled singer suffered bruised ribs and a cut above her eye after she fell at her home in London over the weekend.   Her spokesman said that she’s at a private clinic and is expected to make a full recovery.
