JAY-Z & ALICIA KEYS TO PERFORM AT WORLD SERIES

The New York Yankees have been blasting Jay-Z’s “Empire State of Mind” during their playoff run. Now, the team is having the rap king perform the song live to kick off Game 1 of the World Series. Jay-Z and fellow New Yorker Alicia Keys are set to play the hit on Wednesday, as the Yankees take on defending World Series champions, the Philadelphia Phillies.

JT FILES RESTRAINING ORDER

According to the Associated Press, Justin Timberlake was granted a temporary restraining order on Friday against a woman his attorney described as an obsessed stalker.   A Los Angeles Superior Court Judge granted Timberlake the protective order against 48-year-old Karen J. McNeil.   Timberlake’s attorney described McNeil in court filings as a “mentally unstable celebrity stalker.”   The papers state McNeil was placed in protective psychiatric custody by police after she trespassed at the singer’s home on Thursday.   McNeil showed up at Timberlake’s home on three different occasions.  

3OH3! GET WITH KATY PERRY

3OH3!’s new single “Starstrukk,” featuring Katy Perry can be heard in the trailer to Touchstone Pictures’ upcoming romantic comedy, When In Rome, starring Kristen Bell and Josh Duhamel.   The video for the tune debuted on MTV.com on Monday.

THE WONDER GIRLS MAKE HISTORY

For the first time ever, a music group from South Korea has debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.   Last week, Wonder Girls sold over 30-thousand copies of their debut single, “Nobody,” bowing at number 76 on the chart.   They just completed their first U-S tour with the Jonas Brothers.

AKON SAYS MICHAEL JACKSON WAS A PERFECTIONIST

Akon spoke told MTV News about what it was like working with Michael Jackson before the singer’s untimely demise. Interestingly enough, Akon recalled how MJ was never “satisfied” with any record they made, always believing that they could do better. Head over to MTV.com to listen to the full interview now.

GYM CLASS HEROES LEAD TRAVIS MCCOY TO RELEASE CHARITY TRACK

Travis Mccoy from Gym Class Heroes will be releasing a song called “One At a Time” to coincide with World AIDS Day. The lead vocalist explained, “This track comes straight from the heart” and it will be available on iTunes on December 1st. JESSE JAMES COWBOYS UP FOR NEW VIDEO

Jesse James just released her video for her new song “My Cowboy.”   The country themed tune is the third single off James’ self-titled debut album, which also spawned the hits “Wanted” and “I Look So Good (Without You).”

GREEN DAY TO RELEASE LIVE EP

On December 1st, Green Day will release a new live EP. The Bakuhatsu Live EP set was recorded in Akasaka, Japan on May 28th and features live versions of “21st Century Breakdown,” “Know Your Enemy,” “21 Guns,” “Basket Case” and more. SPIDER-MAN MUSICAL PUSHED BACK

According to the New York Times, the Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark will premiere later than scheduled. The play, which features music written by Bono and The Edge, was set to open in February but has been pushed back to the spring due to production delays and difficulties getting investors on board.

SEE GREEN DAY ON TV THIS WEEK!

Green Day fans should set their DVR to BBC America on Friday night. The band’s performance on the U-K late night talk show Jonathan Ross is set to air on BBC America at 10:35 PM Eastern.

COLDPLAY GET THEIR OWN STAMP

Coldplay’s A Rush of Blood to the Head album has been chosen by the U-K postal department as one of ten classic album covers set to appear on stamps in England. The Coldplay stamp will be issued on January 7th, 2010 and fans can see what it will look like at Coldplay.com.

KANYE WEST TO SERVE COMMUNITY SERVICE

Kanye West’s assault charges may have been dropped, but the rapper is not off the hook just yet. It’s just been confirmed ‘Ye must serve community service for his 2008 Los Angeles Airport altercation with paparazzi. According to the Los Angeles Times, West and his road manager, Don Crowley, must complete 50 hours of work for the American Red Cross.

Kanye’s lawyer Blair Berk told the Times, “I am very pleased the court granted dismissal of all charges.”

ALICIA KEYS DELAYS FREEDOM ALBUM

It looks like Alicia Keys’ upcoming Element of Freedom album won’t be hitting shelves on World AIDS day. The “Doesn’t Mean Anything” singer was scheduled to initially drop on December 1st; however Keys will now arrive on December 15th. She tweeted that the delay will give her a chance to make “so many more amazing songs.” Alicia will be going up against Mary J Blige’s much anticipated Stronger effort.

LIL WAYNE’S REBIRTH GETS A LAUNCH DATE

Just when you thought it would never see the light of day, Lil Wayne’s rock-inspired album, Rebirth, has a confirmed release date! According to his Universal Motown label, fans should expect the new effort to hit shelves on December 15th.

THE GAME CHANGES HIS NAME

Following in Diddy’s footsteps, The Game told DubCNN that he has officially changed his name to “Game” — no longer using “The.” In addition, the rapper is looking forward to releasing a Timbaland-produced street single called “Crazy” featuring Gucci Mane, and his lead single, “L.A. Girl,” with Chris Brown. Fans can anticipate Game’s The R.E.D. Album to drop on December 8th.

Other guest appearances include Akon, Diddy, Young Jeezy, Rick Ross and Beanie Sigel.

BEYONCE TO APPEAR ON LADY GAGA’S “TELEPHONE”

According to PerezHilton.com, Lady Gaga has recruited Beyoncé on a song called “Telephone”. The Darkchild-produced track is rumored to be the second single from Gaga’s The Fame Monster re-release. The two entertainers recently collaborated on Beyoncé’s upcoming single, “Video Phone”.

DAUGHTRY LOVES U2

Chris Daughtry took to his Twitter account early Monday morning to give some pretty high praise to a certain Irish band.   The former American Idol contestant wrote that he truly believes that “that U2 is the biggest and greatest band to walk the face of the earth” and that right now, frontman Bono’s voice is “better than it’s been in years.”

TAYLOR SWIFT STAYS LOW KEY IN THE U-K

Taylor Swift is one of the most popular musicians in America, so it’s no surprise that’s she not usually able to go out in public without being recognized. The country sensation spoke to Britain’s You magazine about enjoying the U-K because although she’s still famous there, it’s a little less intense.   Taylor said, “If I go to a restaurant there’s going to be a line that forms in front of the table and I’m going to be signing autographs the entire time…But coming to the U-K, it’s interesting to have some time off from the constant pointing, staring and screaming. It’s been a while since I was able to go shopping.”

LEONA LEWIS LOVES HER MAN

Leona Lewis has been dating the same guy since before she gained international fame as a singer — and she’s proud of it.   According to People, the “Bleeding Love” singer called her boyfriend, electrician Lou Al-Chamaa, her “best friend” and said it makes her “angry” when people question why they’re together.   Lewis said that Al-Chamaa is “a great person. And it doesn’t matter what you do in life, what your job is, where you come from.”  

LEONA ATTACKER DEEMED NOT FIT FOR COURT

The man that attacked Leona Lewis earlier this month was deemed not fit to attend court.   According to Reuters, 29-year-old Peter Kowalczyk was being examined by psychiatrists and remains in an institution in South London.   After a brief hearing on Monday, it was ruled that the case will resume on November 23rd.

MADONNA BLOGS ABOUT GIRL’S SCHOOL

Madonna and her four children arrived in Malawi over the weekend to attend the groundbreaking ceremony at the girls’ school that Madge is funding.   The event took place yesterday and Madonna blogged about what she is trying to do through her charity Raising Malawi.   The Material Girl wrote that she’s “honored” to be able to help girls “achieve their dreams.”   Read what else Madonna has to say about the experience, at RaisingMalawi.org.
