Clay Aiken was recently released from his record contract with RCA, but the former American Idol runner-up didn’t stay unsigned for long. According to PerezHilton.com, Aiken was just picked up by Decca records, a part of Universal Music. The site also reports that we should expect an album from the singer sometime in the first half of 2010.

He wasn’t released. His contract expired and he did not opt to stay with RCA.
Perez tried to claim the “scoop” but Clay was able to have it announced first on his own fan club site.
Clay and RCA couldn’t come to terms on an agreement so they parted ways. This will probably be the best thing to happen to Clay … a label who cares about quality music.
I think his producer is great and with this new label, beautiful music will be made.
Congratulations to Clay Aiken. He is a huge talent and signing with Decca is a step forward. After all, Decca is part of Universal Music Group, the largest music Company. in the world.
I feel sure that Clay took his time and chose the label that he wanted. He is intelligent and is going into this deal with his eyes open.
It took over a year for him to find a label. Let’s hope he finds a new producer as well.
Thanks for the great news, but it was originally reported at Clay Aiken’s own fan club at http://www.clayonline.com/ :
“We are excited to announce Clay Aiken signs record deal with Universal Music
