GAIN MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT TO RELEASE HARDCORE SUPERSTAR’S HCSS
GAIN Music Entertainment has announced a April 21 North American release date for Hardcore Superstar’s HCSS release via MRI. The band appeared at a sold-out show in Los Angeles’ famed Whiskey A Go Go on January 24th, marking their first appearance in North America in a decade. The upcoming European run will begin on March 11th at the Garage in London.
On the band’s return, Hardcore Superstar collectively offer, “It all started when a fan gave Martin a copy of a demo we recorded back in 1994. We all got very surprised about the great vibe and how good we sounded that early. The tracks were literally drenched in sweat, excitement, and inspiration. So when it was time for us to start working on songs for our new album we returned to those demos and relearned those old riffs and by that got inspired for all the new stuff that we came up with. Basically – to reinvent ourselves we had to go back to the Summer of ’94 when we first started this band and through that get in contact with the feeling and the vibe that inspired us in the first place.” They continue, “That same philosophy goes for the whole album – how we approached the recordings, artwork, choice of the right guy to mix the album and so on. In a way we are backtracking out roots to show ourselves why we once started this band. What we found out is that the very things that got us together in the first place are the same things that still get us going. So this is nothing less than Hardcore Superstar coming full circle by showing our fans where we come from and what we still believe in!” The new album was mixed by Joe Barresi.

THAD KOPEC “EVERY DROP”
The thoughtful, textured music Thad Kopec makes comes not only from himself, but from a sense of place.
When Kopec sits down to write and record his richly layered albums, he is in a room with two windows. From one, you can see the side of an old brick apartment building being steadily overtaken by vines. Out the other, swaying treetops slightly obscure the speckled lights of a laundromat sign and a stream of traffic below. Around the room are shelves and teetering stacks of books, whose creatures and characters often creep into Kopec’s lyrics. On a bookshelf sits a tiny sailboat, carved from an olive pit by a man in Buenos Aires; on the dresser, a pamphlet from a national park in Wyoming that reads “Be Bear Aware!” There are pictures of space and nature, some paintings made by his mother and an odd assortment of lamps and plants. And fitted into this cluttered museum of his life is a recording studio, complete with guitars, synthesizers, microphones and all other manner of objects with knobs and strings.

Nashville-based singer-songwriter Hannah Miller is set to release her self-titled album on May 5, 2015. Recorded at Nashville’s Sputnik Sound with producer Mitch Dane after the birth of her first child, the record captures Miller in transition, moving away from the coffeehouse-friendly songs that filled her previous releases in favor of something louder, livelier and more indebted to the sweep and swell of a full backup band.
