“The songs are as light as an evening breeze and as fluffy as whipped cream; they sing about manatees, mermaid parades, video games, outer space, and other frivolous topics while the music bubbles, shines, and happily unwinds like a day at the cutest, chillest beach imaginable.” – AllMusic

didi’s sophomore album, like memory foam, is out today on Damnably!

didi found one another on the edges of the Columbus OH music scene in 2013. At University, singer/guitarist Meg Zakany and drummer Sheena McGrath began jamming together as a means of exorcising life’s frustrations, then drafted in two musicians they’d admired from afar in the local DIY scene: singer/guitarist Kevin Bilapka-Arbelaez and singer/bassist Leslie Shimizu. The band find some of their musical inspiration in the unpredictable structure of Sonic Youth’s songs as well as in their willingness to craft a sound that generally eschews a single charismatic leader in favor of allowing all members the freedom to write and sing. didi also admire Built to Spill for their ability to layer guitar melodies and angelic vocals.

Ivan & The Parazol build a distinctive glam-psych rock amalgam on ‘Nr. 1003’

IVAN & THE PARAZOL, a four-piece Budapestian band carrying the spirit of 70s glam-rock and incorporation of modern psych-rock instrumentation, making for an amalgam reminiscent of a Brian May-Kevin Parker compound, with their flamboyant guitar solos and overdriven octave-pedals on guitars. The Budapest-based band have explored many facets of the live world during the last few years – performing a number of times at SXSW, CBGB, Reeperbahn, main-staging the Sziget Festival, supporting Deep Purple at their Budapest stop of their arena tour, fresh off their 2017 support Rival Sons tour, while also attaining an MTV EMA award-winners for Best Central European Act; the band are by no-means finding their feet in regards to rearing their stylistic sound.
