Fauvely Premieres Single, “Savannah” via New Noise Mag
Fauvely is the project of Chicago-based singer-guitarist Sophie Brochu, who creates deeply personal dream-pop music. After completing her master’s in fiction writing and feeling frustrated with the constraints of her craft, Sophie turned to music for its raw and immediate release. The title of her debut EP, Watch Me Overcomplicate This (Midwest Action, 2017), speaks to the confessional tone of songs that range from delicately self-effacing to hauntingly sad.
Villagers share propulsive revitalizing track “Again”
With the release of The Art Of Pretending To Swim nearing closer – out Sept 21st via Domino – Villagers also reveal a new track ‘Again’. The album’s opener, it belies its acoustically finger-picked origins as it builds steadily over a propulsive 808 kick drum, ultimately becoming a Moog-soaked epic of a tune and an exploration of self-renewal: “I’ve found again a place in my heart again / For God again in the form of Art again.”
“FLOWER FLOWER,” THE FIRST SINGLE BY ARTIST FRIGGA, TO DEBUTS TODAY
Frigga, a British-Norwegian artist who is infusing the pop genre with spirituality, healing and soul, will release her first single, “Flower Flower” today digital platforms around the globe, including Spotify, iTunes and YouTube, among other channels. The song, “a command from the flower to flower,” says the singer/musician, is the first to be released from her upcoming album, Holy, which is set for a March 2019 premiere.
Black Belt Eagle Scout releases new track/video ‘Indians Never Die’
Black Belt Eagle Scout (aka Portland-based Katherine Paul) is an indigenous queer musician whose debut album, Mother of My Children, is about “grief and love for people, but also about being a native person in what is the United States today.” Mother of My Children is out September 21st via Saddle Creek. After sharing lead single, “Soft Stud,” and then the brilliant “Just Lie Down”, Black Belt Eagle Scout now presents “Indians Never Die.” Directed by queer Diné Evan James Atwood, the “Indians Never Die” video was filmed on the ancestral lands of the Chinook, Chinnuk Wawa, and Tillamook tribes.
Son Lux Announce ‘Yesterday’s Wake’ EP Out 9/19 via City Slang, Share New Track “Delivery”
Son Lux — the LA and NY-based band of Ryan Lott, Rafiq Bhatia, and Ian Chang — today announced their new digital EP Yesterday’s Wake will be released on September 19th, 2018 via City Slang. The EP follows Brighter Wounds, the band’s acclaimed album released earlier this year, which Lott says “is at the center of a body of work, where songs often appear in different iterations.” He adds, “This has been a trademark of the Son Lux project from the start, to investigate songs from each album from multiple angles and present the results. The Yesterday’s Wake EP traces echoes of Brighter Wounds themes while introducing two brand new songs infused with the album’s DNA. Directed by Daniel Inskeep and Rachel Gulotta of Mango Street Lab, the video was shot in and around Los Angeles, from pool party hangs to desert drives. Paul Hammer, 1/2 of Savoir Adore, says, “Daniel and Rachel had a treatment that perfectly reflected the bittersweet nature of the song. The video follows Lauren [Zettler] through all the changes of a summer – the highs and lows, all the people that fly in and out, and what’s left at the end – a feeling I think everyone can relate too. For us, it perfectly matches those fleeting emotions of summer, and the passing of time. Added plus, we got to drive around in a vintage mustang!”
