Bauhaus’ David J re-releases pivotal ‘Crocodile Tears and The Velvet Cosh’ LP

It’s been a long time coming, but David J (Haskins) is returning to his roots.40 years since the formation of Bauhaus, he has announced two one-off solo UK concerts in between festival dates with Bauhaus vocalist Peter Murphy and their newly-announced world tour, including’ Back to Beck, a historic intimate event at the studio in Wellingborough, England where ‘Bela Lugosi’s Dead’ was recorded. Released on August 6, 1979 by Small Wonder Records, this is considered the first gothic rock release. Featuring lyrics composed by David J, this massively significant single led to a John Peel session, two years of charting in the British independent charts, and being signed to 4AD Records and, later, Beggar’s Banquet.

Oakland electronic/pop trans femme artist Ah Mer Ah Su shares “Need You, Need Me” video

AH-Mer-AH-Su is the music project of artist Star Amerasu, whose music and art is based upon her experiences as a black, transwoman in society which effortlessly blends her voice with intricate beats and twinkling synths. Her voice has been compared to Nina Simone and her music is a synthesis of choir kid meets club kid creating a whole league of it’s own. Following up her two critically acclaimed EP’s (“Eclipsing” and “Rebecca”), her debut album, ‘Star’ is a coming of age story where she examines the idea of “womanhood” while practicing self-compassion and self-forgiveness regarding the trauma that queer people tend to experience in today’s society. The Gibson Brothers Return With “Mockingbird,” Out November 9th Via Easy Eye Sound

This morning, Bluegrass royalty Leigh and Eric Gibson announce the release of their 14th album, Mockingbird, produced by Grammy Award winners Dan Auerbach and Fergie Ferguson. The album is not just a return to form for the Gibson Brothers, but also a rebirth, and finds the brothers performing bluegrass, as well as a mix of country, soul and seventies rock. The album cements the sibling duo as players, songwriters and vocalists at the peak of their power, harmonizing as only siblings can, and Mockingbird’s 11 tracks draw on much of the brothers’ experiences being raised on the family farm in Northern New York. “The songs on this album are the sounds we heard growing up, riding around with our dad, who was a farmer, in his pickup, or with our mom in her station wagon,” says Leigh. “This sound was on the radio.” He cites the Eagles, Bob Seger, Tom Petty, and the warm country sounds of Don Williams, Emmylou Harris and Waylon Jennings as influences for the album. The Hazytones to Release New LP, ‘Monarchs of Oblivion’, October 5

Canadian garage doom band The Hazytones will release their new LP, Monarchs of Oblivion, on October 5 via Ripple Music. The Montreal-based group, whose haunting, hooky sound has been called “Swedish-style stomp”, delivers dark psych-metal, overflowing with stark mood and tempo changes, and haunting, double-tracked vocals that glide over the sinister songs. Monarchs of Oblivion is the follow-up to The Hazytones’ 2017 self-titled debut, hailed as “totally new yet oddly recognizable.”

Eagles to Perform in Hawaii’s Aloha Stadium on December 7 with Jack Johnson

The Eagles – Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit, with Vince Gill and Deacon Frey – are bringing their critically acclaimed 2018 North American Tour to Aloha Stadium on Friday, December 7th, marking the band’s first performance in Honolulu in nearly 14 years.
