Athens duo The Velvoids Share New Single ‘Absolutely Nothing’
Vice Lesley formed The Velvoids in Athens, Greece in early 2003. The band gained recognition in the local underground scene before taking a hiatus in 2005. After meeting in 2007, Lesley reformed The Velvoids with Dorah X on drums.
Oliver releases ‘Inner Circle’ with new B-sides and remixes
LA duo Oliver have released a follow up to their recent debut album Full Circle. The new collection, titled Inner Circle, features four brand new songs from the duo plus remixes from Dombrance, LIFELIKE and Mumbai Science. The four new tracks serve to warm up the winter with Oliver’s trademark bright ’80s sound, while the remixes offer fresh takes on some of the album’s best cuts. RIAH FEATURED ON SHALLOU’S “LIE,” OUT TODAY
Riah, the atmospheric indie-pop singer songwriter known for “crisp songwriting… judicious word choice and emotional delivery,” (The New York Times) has joined forces with shallou for his highly anticipated new single, “Lie.” “Lie” finds the D.C.-based producer weaving lush, chords with Riah’s soothing vocals.
Oakland, CA’s Compltr is streaming a new track on Impose.
“Contrapasso” is the first of four singles to come from the project through-out the year. In the meantime, Compltr’s debut effort “Purification Ritual,” will be released on cassette in early-March via Etruscan Gold (Wax Idols’ imprint label).

“Erase You” might be the most raw and vulnerable song I’ve ever written. It’s been a really big year for me in terms of unexpected life experience: heartbreak, a new love for music I’ve never known, new friends, a new home. This is the first of the new songs I’m writing that captures that experience of rediscovering who I am in 2018. The “Raw Emotions” project, and releasing new music every month for a year, has also put a healthy pressure to make sure EVERY song feels transparent and real. I think I re-wrote the chorus of “Erase You” at least 15 times before I found the one that tied that song together (which by the way I wrote in 10 degree weather on walking back home in Brooklyn only 48 hours before finishing the song). — Stolar
Hayley Sabella To Release Second Full-Length Album, ‘Forgive The Birds’
Drawing inspiration from the earth itself, hers situated deep within the New England coast, singer-songwriter Hayley Sabella is influenced by what’s around her: the dramatic landscapes of the area and its renowned seasons helped inspire her to create the sound she has long yearned for, next displayed on Forgive The Birds, set for release on April 27. Glide Magazine premiered “Turn Around” today, saying she “shines with pop-laden Americana.”
The album’s first single showcases Sabella’s tendency to draw examples from the earth around her, taking a trip through the seasons and narrating personal growth within those times.

Metallic-hardcore band PROBLEM OF PAIN announces new EP, releases new song
“Through the period of time when we wrote our last record, we really felt like we grew as musicians and truly became able to capture the sound we wanted,” shares drummer/vocalist Jake Beaver. “We took the approach of writing this album from an artistic standpoint not from a ‘let’s try to be heavy’ stand-point; because quite frankly there are better bands doing that. We really thought out how to best captivate the listener.”

Nourmand New Single ‘Prisoner’
Furthering Nourmand’s trend of feel-good music, “PRISONER” centers around Laurent’s soulful vocals, supported by Nourmand’s characteristic pulsing, groovy house beats. The combination is incredibly lush, providing a basis that could fit equally well on an aggressive dancefloor as an emotional, introspective retreat. On the track’s emotional impact in Nourmand’s own words:

LA shoegaze band Modern Time Machines shares “High Noon” video
Following the local momentum of their earliest shows, the band’s first single “Dweeb” began receiving strong radio support from LA’s KROQ 106.7FM. Continually refining their sound with “nuanced playing and killer hooks” (Los Angeles Times), the band was invited to perform live nationally in 2012 on Adult Swim’s cult TV hit The Eric Andre Show, and their music will be featured in the upcoming film So Help You God by noted filmmaker Ashley York (Netflix’s TIG).
