PET SHOP BOYS SINGLE “TWENTY-SOMETHING”
The new single “Twenty-something” will be released on digital and CD formats June 17 with the official video premiering on Univision.com. Univision’s Uforia Musica calls the track “high-energy yet heart-rending.” Directed by Gavin Filipiak, who caught Pet Shop Boys’ attention when he helmed the video for the group Prayers’ cover of their classic track “West End Girls.” Filipiak says “the band loved the authenticity and feel of the video and wanted something similar for their new song which has a Latin sound to it. For the video, they were imagining a hispanic character going through the same struggles described by the lyrics of the song.”
MOBY RELEASES “MUSIC FROM PORCELAIN”
“Music From Porcelain” is the companion album to Moby’s book of memoirs entitled, Porcelain, (Penguin Press; May 17). The album is a collection of newly re-mastered versions of classics including “Go!,” “Honey,” “Natural Blues” and “Bodyrock,” among many others, combined with a hard to get collection of classic Electronic music recordings from artists from 808 State to A Tribe Call Quest. “Music From Porcelain” is released June 10th on Thrive Music.

Lucius’ new music video for the track “Gone Insane” premieres today via Pitchfork. Nathan Johnson directed the dream-inspired video from a series of more than 20,000 photographs. “Bands don’t make videos like this anymore,” Johnson says. “Often, you’ve got a day to shoot, but this was a month-long project, Jess [Wolfe] and Holly [Laessig] were so committed to this ridiculous, full-on approach that included 20 hours in a makeup chair and four grueling days in front of the stop-motion rig. Definitely the most insane video we’ve done,” Johnson adds. “Gone Insane” appears on Lucius’ latest album Good Grief.

The Eugene O’Neill Theater Center celebrated the 16th annual Monte Cristo Award ceremony with a presentation of the honor to award-winning stage and film director, playwright, and actor George C. Wolfe last night at the Edison Ballroom. The O’Neill annually bestows its Monte Cristo Award on a prominent theater artist whose lifetime work has had an extraordinary impact on American theater. The gala event supports the Center’s commitment to developing new work and new artists for the stage.
Former Monte Cristo Award recipient and celebrated actor Hal Prince presented the Award to Wolfe. In his speech, Prince described what it is like not only to work with Wolfe, but to be an audience member experiencing one of his shows.
