KC AND THE SUNSHINE BAND BREAKS TOP 30 ON THE BILLBOARD DANCE CHARTS
August 30, 2015 marked exactly forty years since KC and The Sunshine Band’s 70s decade-defining and transcendent dance hit “Get Down Tonight,” topped the Billboard Hot 100 Chart, marking the band’s first mega No. 1 hit that would spawn several more, and an over forty year career that’s still going today. Now, for the first time in 31 years, the Miami-born group led by Harry Wayne “KC” Casey celebrates their first Billboard chart single in 31 years in “I Love You More,” currently at No. 30 on the Billboard Dance Chart.
The electronic and techno-infused “I Love You More,” a Tony Moran & Mike Lorello radio mix, is gaining popularity among DJs and dance clubs from coast to coast. Penned by Casey, he never expected the tremendous reaction it’s been getting.
NATHANIEL RATELIFF & THE NIGHT SWEATS RATTLE THE CHARTS
The self-titled debut album from Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats sold more than 21,000 albums in its first week of release landing the Stax recording artists at #17 on Billboard’s Top 200 Album Chart.
Fans and critics alike have enthusiastically embraced Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, both here and around the world. “Rateliff isn’t simply resurrecting the ghost of R&B past like some garden-variety neo-soul necromancer: He’s out to shake the sheets, sermonize and get downright elemental,” declared NPR Music. The UK’s Q Magazine‘s 4 STAR review proclaimed “As an album, it’s something of a revelation; the stunning sound of an artist being born again.” “So riveting, so spirited, so damn triumphant,” raved Glide Magazine, while The Guardian affirmed “The album is full of the ghosts of songwriting greats like Otis Redding, Chuck Berry and Van Morrison, and sounds like it should establish Rateliff as the breakneck bar brawler of the new soul movement.”

MUSIC RISING MARKS 10th ANNIVERSARY
10 years ago Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast, leaving behind a trail of destruction that The Edge of U2 would soon witness firsthand during a visit to New Orleans’ hard hit 9th Ward. Moved by the devastation suffered by the local musical community, Edge teamed with legendary producer Bob Ezrin, Gibson Guitars, MusiCares and the Guitar Center Foundation to provide immediate aid to the musicians whose lives and livelihoods had sustained the most damage when the levees broke. In short order, efforts including donations of net proceeds from the sales of Gibson and Epiphone Music Rising special edition guitars and the providing of musical instruments to professionals whose gear was destroyed in the storm were implemented. In a PSA at the time, Edge explained the helplessness he would have felt in the face of such overwhelming loss as Music Rising replaced thousands of instruments in what would ultimately be the first phase of its still ongoing and continually expanding mission.
Reflecting on the 10-year journey of Music Rising, The Edge commented: Music is at the core of these communities. It’s an essential part of their identities, their hearts and their lives. So when these centers of musical culture are damaged, getting the music going again is a crucial part of the healing process.
LUCERO DEBUT BIG STAR COVER “I’M IN LOVE WITH A GIRL”
Lucero’s new album All A Man Should Do contains some of the most resonant lyrics Ben Nichols has ever written. They read like chapters from his life: the duality of relationships, getting older, finding where you want to be in this world and more.
“I was 15 years old in 1989,” Nichols explained. “This record sounds like the record I wanted to make when I was 15. It just took 25 years of mistakes to get it done.”

DON WILLIAMS ON TOUR
Internationally loved country music icon, Don Williams, is set to bring his hits to fans old and new when he kicks off his 2015 Tour in September. “Mercy, the fans have kept us going for years, and I am glad to share the music with them once again,” says Williams.
Williams first came to prominence in the 1960s as a member of the folk group The Pozo-Seco Singers. The trio recorded several hit records, with the biggest being “Time.” By 1971, Williams had gone solo, and had signed a publishing deal with Jack Clement. The Hall of Fame producer was so taken with Don’s style that he offered him a recording contract with his JMI Records in 1972. Early hits included “Atta Way To Go” and “Come Early Morning,” as well as “We Should Be Together,” which became his first Billboard top ten hit from 1974. He then moved to ABC / Dot (Later MCA), where the hits increased. Tracks such as “Rake and Ramblin’ Man,” “Tulsa Time,” and “Nobody But You” helped to make him one of the most-played artists on Country Radio in the 1970s and 1980s. He took home the Male Vocalist of the Year trophy from the Country Music Association in 1978, and notched his biggest hit in 1981 with “I Believe In You,” which also crossed over to the top-30 on the Hot 100.
WASIU “GOOD GIRL”
With “Good Girl,” Montreal rapper Wasiu discovers that there’s more to a book than its cover. After falling for what he deems a good girl based on her glasses and shy behavior, Wasiu is surprised to find that she’s more open and adventurous when they’re alone. “You finally get with a girl that you been talking to for awhile,” Wasiu explains. “However, you’re surprised when you finally get in the sheets with her, because she’s one of those quiet good girls with glasses, yet she’s performing like she’s highly experienced in this. It throws you off, because of the stereo type that we have of these quiet ‘good’ girls.” Fellow Montrealer and Raw Records co-founder/producer Dear Lola flips a sample of The Internet’s Kaytranada-produced “Girl,” giving it a glitchy, breakbeat sound with snapping transitional points – from the hypnotic intro to the smooth but choppy chorus.

directed music video for their song “Over Your Head”, which was released as a single last week with the previously unreleased b-side “On Your Mind”.

NSFW VIDEO FROM COLLAJ
“I just released a video for my new single “LOSE CONTROL” on Vevo. I wrote this track with Troy Noka, producer for Chris Brown, Frank Ocean and Miguel. It was shot in DTLA with 4 nude models in metallic body paint. The idea was less about being exploitative and more about finding an artful way of celebrating the female form. Please enjoy. I’ve included song links as well.” – COLLAJ
SYNKRO NEW SONG AT SPIN
Having forged his career in the dubstep era, with nearly 40 releases to his name, Synkro AKA Joe McBride has always resisted easy classification – his music winds together such diverse influences as Boards Of Canada, dBridge, Burial and Oneohtrix Point Never, whilst still remaining utterly unique. His trademark warm sonics, and emotive melodies are ever-present on his forthcoming debut album ‘Changes’ – his much favoured vinyl samples being joined on this record by a new found love of analogue equipment, as he explains “I got addicted to vintage synths after a trip to Japan last year – I came back with a Juno-6 & SH-101 both of which play a big role in the album.”

CHOCOLATE PUMA “THE MAX”
With over twenty years of experience on the house music circuit and following the recent success of the Dim Mak-released “Lost Your Groove” alongside Junior Sanchez, Dutch duo Chocolate Puma bring a masterful dark bassline set to a driving 4/4 on their newest vocal track “The Max.”
The track picks up with a plucking guitar riff before sliding into the silver-tongued vocals provided by UK rapper Kris Kiss. Once the drop hits, the combination of low end beats and rhythmic lyrics proves kinetic.

PSEUDO/SENTAI NEW VIDEO
Preceding the encroaching release of Bansheeface, the new full-length by New York City-based progressive metal crusaders, PSEUDO/SENTAI, the intro track, “Quantum Cardboard,” has been issued through a video premiere at Heavy Blog Is Heavy.
It may be only two minutes long, and unlike the rest of the album, may be totally void of vocals, but the whacky bounce of the album-opening “Quantum Cardboard” helps depict the 8-bit electro influences of PSEUDO/SENTAI. A quirky bit of insight into the minds of these rogue super/anti-heroes, the track is here deployed through a layered and trippy video created by Dane Hendren of Dog On A Roof, the write-up adjoining the premiere at Heavy Blog Is Heavy offering, “This is the first cut of the band’s upcoming record Bansheeface, and to be honest the album is so wonderfully diverse it’s hard to say if this is indicative of the entire album. The band fluctuates from place to place, yet somehow find a way to make it all work in the midst of their madness.”

TIGERWINE NEW VIDEO
Colorado Springs, CO trio Tigerwine are premiering a new video for “Sharp Elbows” on Substream.
Frontman Hayden Trobee tells Substream, “‘Sharp Elbows’ is about being fed up. I grew up in church and this song was written at a time in my life when my family had our lives uprooted by people I saw as having an almost alien way about them. People who say and do all the right things but behind closed doors are inhumanly cruel. People who it seems almost always, inexplicably, are involved with such institutions.”

The first track of three, “Everything You Got,” is a soulful vocal house number with a classic feel to it. Solid, bright percussion chock full of claps and hi-hats drives the track while the bass lays low underneath and the vocal delivers the soul. “Kill It” follows next with an even deeper bassline and more reverberated vocals. A single pan flute can be heard, creating a beautiful, airy ambience throughout.
