ARYK CROWDER ADDRESSES CHI-TOWN VIOLENCE
Chicago-based singer/songwriter Aryk Crowder has been crafting his own blend of hands-on soul for a number of years, performing what some have lovingly dubbed “guitaRnB”: In an age of digital sampling and having the recording process at the push of a button, Crowder’s kinetic fretwork and live-band performances bring to mind artists like Maxwell and John Mayer, putting him leagues ahead of those relying on backing tracks. His tender delivery and mastering of dynamics bring any track of his to life.
That personal flair delivers even more altruism to his latest single, “One By One,” and the accompanying video. Crowder wrote the cut in direct response to to the city’s growing gun violence issue, sparked by five people being shot (one killed) in front of his neighborhood church in Uptown. That first-hand impact “brought to me how real and widespread the gang-related gun violence is here in Chicago,” he remarks. The track succeeds in driving home this message over propulsive percussion and vintage keys. Crowder recognizes himself as an outsider to the gun violence issue, but he’s still driven to contribute to the conversation using his own brilliant talents.
NEW VIDEO BY THE STEEPWATER BAND
The Steepwater Band, a blaring rock ‘n’ roll group from the windy city has released a new music video for their song “Hard As Stone (2015)”. It was shot and edited by Jon Richey of VUture Visions and filmed at Crushtone Studios in Cleveland, OH where the band recorded the song with platinum producer Jim Wirt (Incubus, Fionna Apple, Buffalo Killers). CATFISH AND THE BOTTLEMEN’S DEBUT LP THE BALCONY STREAMING
Catfish and the Bottlemen’s debut LP The Balcony (due January 6 via Communion Records) is now streaming in its entirety at Pandora. The breakout band’s lyric video for the album’s single “Kathleen” is also premiering at The Wall Street Journal’s Speakeasy blog. The video features live footage of their many festival appearances throughout 2014, which The Wall Street Journal praises as a “triumphant year” for the band.

KODALINE NEW VIDEO “HONEST”
Dublin band Kodaline have unveiled the video for their forthcoming single ‘Honest’. ‘Honest’, will be released Feb 1st on RCA Victor and is taken from their second album ‘Coming Up For Air’ which is out Feb 9th, 2015. They’ll be touring the UK and Europe throughout Feb and March, 2015.

SEAN PRICE “LAND OF THE CROOKS” REMIX
Brooklyn: the name alone holds Godly. From Brownsville to Bed-Stuy, King’s County is home to many of Hip Hop’s most legendary emcees. Despite the borough’s recent overhaul, and its continued gentrification, let’s not get it twisted, BK is still as tough as ever, as Sean Price, Billy Danze, and Maffew Ragazino pledge their allegiance for the borough that raised them, on “Land of the Crooks.” The single originally appeared on the EP of the same title starring the Boot Camp Clik veteran, Sean Price, with Australia’s powerhouse producer, M-Phazes, on the boards. While the original version had the three emcees representing their borough pride over Phazes’ anthemic backdrop, Divided Souls Ent. & DJ Pain 1 take a more sinister approach, for a remix that fuses ominous organ riffs and a reworked scratch chorus featuring quotables from Hova, Digable Planets and 3rd Bass. NÖME “EAGLE” VIDEO
UK pop-rock band NÖME’s new music video for their single “Eagle” that was recently premiered on Nothing But Hope And Passion! You can watch the video HERE. They praised the video, saying, “Chances are good that NÖME themselves got a bright future ahead of them.” The single itself was premiered on Joonbug, who hailed the band’s “stadium-sized sound, catchy hooks, pop melodies, and countless synth licks.”
