Four Tracks, Infinite Grooves: House Cleaning Records’ First Vinyl Release Hits the Decks
Born out of the passion for community, analog sound, and bold exploration, Seattle-based label House Cleaning Records (HCR) is making its mark with the launch of its first vinyl release, HCR001 – Adam Collins – Get Me Started EP. This inaugural project is not only a significant milestone for the label but also an embodiment of the ethos behind HCR—where authenticity, collaboration, and a love for House Music meet.
Founded in early 2021 by Kyle Douglas and Jenn Sturgill, House Cleaning Records is a family of like-minded individuals dedicated to pushing the boundaries of House Music while respecting its roots. Kyle and Jenn set out to build a community grounded in comradery, inclusion, and shared creativity. They aim to create safe spaces where all generations of talent can grow, collaborate, and explore.
HCR values the analog experience, particularly vinyl, while fully embracing modern digital technologies. For Kyle, who’s been spinning records since the late ’90s, vinyl is not just a medium—it’s a craft. His background as a civil engineer for over 15 years has shaped his sharp technical edge, allowing him to masterfully blend both old-school and cutting-edge techniques. His attention to detail behind the decks has garnered him respect as a mentor in the community, teaching others how to organize their music libraries and create seamless live experiences.
Jenn, a seasoned entrepreneur and event manager, has been deeply involved in the House Music scene for years. Her passion for bringing people together through music is reflected in the way she approaches both business and life. An adventure-seeker, Jenn balances her time between running successful companies and pursuing new hobbies, like becoming a licensed Private Pilot and, soon, a Commercial Seaplane Charter Pilot.
Together, Kyle and Jenn bring a fresh perspective to the House Music world, driven by their shared love for the genre and commitment to supporting the global House Music community.
For HCR’s first release, the label turned to a longtime friend and mentor, Adam Collins of Euphoria Records. Adam was the perfect artist to kick off the label’s journey. The partnership was born from a strong bond between Adam, Kyle, and Jenn, who first met in 2022 during a co-produced event in Seattle. The instant connection sparked a lifelong friendship and, ultimately, this exciting collaboration.
The Get Me Started EP showcases Adam’s dynamic production skills and ventures into new sonic territories, offering something fresh for both seasoned House heads and newcomers to the genre. With a mix of high-energy grooves and minimal deep rollers, the record captures the heart and soul of House Music while also reflecting the thoughtful approach of the team behind it.
The EP opens with “Get Me Started,” a dancefloor-ready groove featuring rhythmic pianos, bongos, and a heavy Juno 106 bassline. It’s a track that embodies high energy and uplifting vibes, perfect for an outdoor summer party. Adam crafted this tune in collaboration with his good friend Bobby, and together, they infused the track with a bright, joyful essence that’s sure to spark a movement on the dancefloor.
Next up is “Upstart,” a funky, underground gem that came to life during an unexpected moment of inspiration in Chicago. The quirky sample—captured from a woman proclaiming to the empty streets—adds a unique touch to the track’s deep, groovy vibe. It’s a tune designed for those late-night sessions when the crowd is in full flow, immersed in the music.
On the B-side, we dive into deeper territory with “Kucni Snimak,” which translates to “Home Movie” in Serbian. Written during Adam’s time in Belgrade, the track has a laid-back, minimal vibe, perfect for after-hours sets or intimate gatherings. The live arrangement gives it a raw, organic feel that resonates with the label’s passion for analog and live music creation.
Rounding off the EP is “Vracar,” a stripped-down, eclectic groove named after a neighborhood in Belgrade where much of the album was crafted. The track features the MC 303 and Korg ER-1, layered with chopped vocal samples to create a late-night atmosphere. It’s an authentic reflection of Adam’s creative process and his deep connection to the spaces in which he works.
What makes this release even more special is the personal touch that HCR has infused into every copy. Each record is hand-labeled by Kyle and Jenn, giving it that underground, DIY vibe that many House Music lovers cherish. Some will even find handwritten notes tucked into the record sleeves—an extra touch that speaks to the community-first mindset behind HCR.
Buyers of the vinyl will also receive password-protected access to the digital tracks, though HCR is committed to keeping the digital versions exclusive to those who purchase the vinyl. It’s all part of their dedication to preserving the unique experience of owning a physical record while still embracing the benefits of modern digital platforms.
The release of HCR001 – Adam Collins – Get Me Started EP represents the resilience, passion, and collaborative spirit that HCR is all about. With this vinyl release, HCR is officially on the map, and this is just the beginning of what promises to be an exciting journey for the label and the community it’s building.
