For 15 glorious years, from the launch of their first indie UK singles in 1994 (“Supersonic,” “Shakermaker,” “Live Forever,” “Cigarettes & Alcohol,” “Whatever”) to their final shows together in the summer of 2009 — Oasis defined the essence of British Rock and Roll. Their attitude and stark drama revitalized and reignited a UK music scene sorely in need of new anthems and a reason to care all over again.
Liam Gallagher (voted “Best Frontman of All Time” by Q magazine readers, April 2010 issue) and Noel Gallagher held the reins of a band that sold tens of millions of singles and albums around the world, set concert attendance records, set UK national chart records, won countless music awards, and never failed to engage the imagination and curiosity of one of the most devoted fan bases in 20th-21st century rock. Since last summer and fall however, the handwriting has been on the wall: The Oasis era is part of history now, as Liam and Noel go their separate ways with new post-Oasis projects.
