Washing machine problems can bring some unpleasant moments to your life. At this point, the broken appliance makes things harder instead of helping you. While some malfunctions require repair by qualified specialists, others can easily be fixed up by yourself. Modern, digitally controlled models come with displays showing error codes that can give you a hint of what’s wrong with your washer and help you decide if you should call the guy or you’ll cope on your own. Below are the common washer problems and some bits of advice to troubleshoot them.
1. Washing Machine Is Noisy
One of the common troubles with washers is unusual vibration. If you hear excessive noises from your appliance, this can mean that there is a hard object in the drum, like a coin or a bra underwire. Some small items can safely go through the cycle, while others may fall into the space of the inner drum. While staying there, they clatter when the drum rotates. As a rule, such objects eventually get into the filter, and you can remove them while cleaning it.
If the noise is not caused by an item in the inner space, it may signal some damage to the drum or other details of the washer. These types of breakdowns can be fixed only by a qualified technician.
2. Washing Machine Is Leaking
If you notice puddles around your washer, you should first check the connection of the water hose. Sometimes, considerable vibration of the machine leads to a loosening of connections, and hence, a leak. So, in most cases, this problem can easily be solved by tightening nuts, screws, or clamps.
Besides loose connections, leakage may be caused by worn seals and washers, or an impaired drain hose. If this is the case, check the system of the hoses for possible defects. If found, deteriorated details should be replaced.
3. Washing Machine Won’t Spin
Such a problem is usually caused by an overload or an unbalanced load in the washer’s drum that can, for example, be signaled by the Samsung washer UB code. Probably, you put too much linens or clothing in the washing machine, and this prevents the drum from spinning. Try rearranging the items or removing big ones to wash them separately.
If you remove some of the items, but it doesn’t help, check the drain pomp as it can be blocked, and the possible cause of that may be an object stuck in the outlet pipe, and as water doesn’t flow, the wash cycle won’t start. So you can solve the issue by cleaning the drainage system.
4. Washer Door Doesn’t Open
During a wash cycle, when the drum is filled with water, the washing machine’s door is normally blocked. However, it sometimes won’t open after the wash cycle ends. What would you do then? Actually, it is first recommended to turn the washer on to one more cycle. This should help completely remove water from it, hence, the door can be unblocked. After that, it would be a good idea to check the filters and drainage system to make sure that nothing got stuck inside.
5. Washing Machine Won’t Fill with Water
The water hoses again are the first to suspect in this problem. For instance, this is indicated in LG washers with IE code. Often, the hoses appear to be pinched or kinked. Or, like in the previous issue, the hoses may be clogged. Consequently, you just have to carry out a cleanup.
Also, there are times when the washer is droning, but water still doesn’t flow inside. So, besides the hoses, we recommend you check the water faucets and the taps in the machine. Sometimes, it is not superfluous to clean them out too. Before cleaning the washer’s taps, be sure to drain water out of the appliance.
If the hoses and taps are clean, but the problem with water persists, then the cause can be in the water valve. In this case, check the connectivity of the valve as well as the cleanness of the filter.
