Cuban-American singer, Camila Cabello, has announced that she will drop an album to mark her 25th birthday. The pop star took to social media to share that her third studio album, FAMILIA, would be out on April 8th.
“2 facts: it’s my birthday and this album is my whole fucking heart,” Cabello, who had previously shown her love for online gambling, wrote on Twitter, sharing what appears to be the album’s artwork. “FAMILIA. Out April 8.”
While the official tracklist for FAMILIA hasn’t been released, we can safely assume Cabello’s follow-up to 2019’s Romance will include her single from last year, “Don’t Go Yet,” as well as the Ed Sheeran-featuring “Bam Bam,” which will drop on Friday.
Last September, Cabello performed alongside Coldplay, Billie Eilish, BTS, and more for the climate crisis fundraiser Global Citizen Live. That same month, she appeared as Cinderella in Disney’s new live-action remake of the fairytale classic.
Cabello has quickly become one of the biggest pop stars on the planet, famed for churning out big tunes such as ‘Havana’ and ‘Señorita’ as well as her catchy collaborations with other artists. At only 24-years-old, Camila has picked up her fair share of awards since breaking out into the music industry in 2012.
The singer started off in girl group Fifth Harmony on X Factor USA back in 2012, however separated from the girls in 2017 to launch her solo career.
A young Camila was just 15-years-old when she was grouped with her fellow band-mates on the American X Factor. The Cuban-American beauty passed on her own Quinceañera, instead asking her parents to spend the money on taking her to the North Carolina X Factor auditions, and thank goodness they did!
15-year-old Camila soon broke out into the music industry as a member of the famous girl group, with fellow members Normani, Ally Brooke, Dinah Jane and Lauren Jauregui. The pop quintet formed and rose to fame as contestants on the American X Factor in 2012, finishing in third place.
Just one month after finishing the show, the girls were signed to both Simon Cowell’s record label, Syco Music, and L.A. Reid’s label, Epic Records. It was from there that we received big hits such as ‘Sledgehammer’, ‘Work From Home’ and ‘That’s My Girl’, which was a success for her fans who love games on online casino south Africa.
After the roaring success of Camila’s first solo side project ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’, with Shawn Mendes in 2015, the star began to build her passion for a solo career. Tensions soon began to rise, with Camila claiming, “It became clear that it was not possible to do solo stuff and be in the group at the same time”.
The pop-band ended on a somewhat sour note in December 2016, when the group announced that Camila was leaving via Twitter. Shortly after the newly-made quartet released their statement, Camila took to Twitter to say, ‘i was shocked to read the statement the fifth harmony account posted without my knowing.
‘the girls were aware of my feelings through the long, much needed conversations that we had about the future that we had through the tour. as scary as it is to take the leap, i am excited and full of joy because i know that no matter what happens, i am following my heart. I hope to see you on my journey.’ (sic).
Speaking to Fault magazine, Camila said, “I think the scariest part about it is leaving a successful project to pursue a new dream with a path full of questions of self-discovery that only you can answer.” While she felt grateful to be part of the group, she said expressing herself as an artist “became a necessity” and so she decided to leave.
During her time in Fifth Harmony, singer-songwriter Camila had co-written a number of songs both for her former group and a number of other artists saying she had always wanted to be a songwriter, and appeared as a featured vocalist on Shawn Mendes’ song ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ and ‘Bad Things’ by Machine Gun Kelly.
Her first debut solo single was ‘Crying in the Club’, which peaked at Number 12 in the UK. Her debut album ‘Camila’ was released in January 2018, and reached Number 1 in the US on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart and Number 2 in the UK.
