R&B-jazz guitarist Adam Hawley certain to stay on top with “Risin’ Up”
Dropping his third album two weeks prior to last year’s stay-at-home order due to the COVID-19 pandemic didn’t halt guitarist Adam Hawley’s remarkable chart domination. His R&B-jazz collection “Escape” proved inescapable, scoring three No. 1 singles, including the No. 1 single of 2020, “To The Top.” The musician-songwriter-producer who to date has amassed nine No. 1 singles returns on September 10 with his fourth album, “Risin’ Up,” which will be preceded by the horn-powered title track as the first single that goes for playlist adds on August 16.

Today, Grammy-nominated live-electronic trio RÜFÜS DU SOL have released their latest single on Rose Avenue and Reprise / Warner Records, Next To Me. The track adds a new chapter to the band’s career-long straddling of the dualities of light and dark, loss and love.
Next To Me portrays a sense of maturity and adoration on a level not felt before from the band. At its core it is a song of devotion, of caring compassion, an affair of the heart not undercut by the pressures of stardom or toils of young love. It’s a point of departure from the haunting emotive rollercoaster of recent single Alive, and a more positive lyrical take on the foundation set by the similarly anthemic Treat You Better off the 2018 Grammy-nominated SOLACE LP.

Fresh off his newly minted VMA nomination for “my ex’s best friend”, Machine Gun Kelly embarks on his new journey this week. After announcing his sixth album, born with horns, via a tattoo posted to his social media on Monday, Machine Gun Kelly tapped renowned director Cole Bennett to helm Bennett’s first-ever rock video “papercuts” and the results prove excellent. The video will make its online debut on Cole Bennett’s Lyrical Lemonade Channel. There’s a black and white clip at the start that finds a bald and tattoo-less MGK riding down Sunset Boulevard in a motorcycle with horns. As he continues his expedition as rock’s newest superstar, MGK candidly acknowledges his constant struggles with fame and more. The “papercuts” video made its broadcast premiere on MTV Live, MTVU and the ViacomCBS Times Square billboard.

Singer and rapper Hendrix Harris unveils serious single ‘Jeez’
His first offering since last year’s eye-catching debut EP Falcon, ‘Jeez’ is a fiery nod to Hendrix’s twin loves of soulful R&B and hip hop, blending soul and trap instrumentals with his unique vocal style blending rapid flows and melodic falsettos. Directed by duo SOB (Griff, Collard) the cinematic visual explores “a tale of seduction, addiction and desire”.
Flowerland is the third album from French-American duo Pearl & The Oysters, available September 3rd, 2021 via Chicago’s Feeltrip Records.
With the band having recently relocated to LA, the album was intended as the final installment of Pearl & The Oysters’ ‘Florida trilogy,’ begun on their self-titled debut (2017) and continued on Canned Music (2018), a space age odyssey equal parts fawning over the Floweredland’s natural spectacles and mourning the peril that climate change has wrought on it all.

But as I dug deeper into the meaning of the song, I realized that with a different arrangement and vocal approach, the heartfelt and poignant lyrics that makes this such a strong love song could attain a more personal and intimate result. With a genuine gospel arrangement, and a spiritually based vocal performance, this incredible song could take on a new meaning for a newer generation. Indeed, it would not be necessarily limited to devotion in a traditional one-to-one relationship, but could also transcend to an offering of love and support in important causes relevant today, such as social justice.
