WEIRD AL PLUGS “RINGTONE” THE LAST OF HIS “INTERNET LEAKS”

Volcano/Jive recording artist “Weird Al” Yankovic’s 5-song digital-only EP Internet Leaks drops today at iTunes, Amazon and all other online retailers.   The EP is comprised of four tracks that Yankovic has recently “leaked” to the Internet, plus one brand new song called “Ringtone,” a Queen pastiche about a man who evidently has the most annoying ringtone in the world.   The music video for “Ringtone” was directed by Josh Faure-Brac and Dustin McLean from Current TV’s popular series “SuperNews,” which hosted its world-premiere last Friday night.

“Ringtone” is the fifth in a series of “leaks” which began last October with the release of “Whatever You Like,” a parody of the T.I. smash hit with the same title.   Beginning in June, Yankovic released four new original songs over a ten-week period, each with its own music video.   Liam Lynch directed “Craigslist” (an homage to the Doors, featuring Ray Manzarek himself on keyboards); Divya Srinivasan animated “Skipper Dan” (a poignant tale of a promising actor who winds up bitterly working as a Jungle Cruise tour guide); the JibJab team helmed “CNR” (a tongue-in-cheek tribute to the superhuman powers of classic TV icon Charles Nelson Reilly); and the SuperNews crew tackled the new “Ringtone” video.
